Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

3 frogs and just spam frog kiss and water jet..

Lenoria wrote on 2017-07-23 19:38:30

This is close to my strat: two frogs and a spider with good health for backup. Many times one frog will solo the entire fight.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-24 11:36:35

Flapper slaughters my frogs.

slimjim

wrote on 2018-11-15 18:54:09

2 frogs worked - Boghopper (Croak to prevent enemy crits plus Pump works well) and I finished finished them off with a Garden Frog using Frog Kiss plus Water Jet.

If you have only one Emerald Proto-Whelp like I do, then it's best if you used that one on the Growing Ectoplasm to use the Dream Whelping on the last boss, taking in you have the Dream Whelpling... it worked for me that way

wrote on 2019-02-20 20:29:49

This was what finally allowed me to complete this fight, I used Alpine Foxling S/S for its Dazzling Dance. Using that allowed Ikky to get speed advantage. The rest was winged. Next time will try the remaining fight sequence per stated. Thanks for this team.

EtRnitY wrote on 2018-10-08 00:57:06

Didn't worked because after ikky death, the other ones have not enought HP left. Guide may not be up to date.

Agreed. This strat no longer works.

zaftig

wrote on 2019-01-19 01:54:34

The current strat works fine IMO. I used it two nights in a row to do both the regular and challenge mode versions of this dungeon. In the challenge mode version I never even had to bring my 3rd pet out and the emerald proto-whelp finished the fight with >80% HP left.

Brizz wrote on 2018-06-09 18:37:22

Pet Battle Teams HUD failed on final fight so all 3 pets died but no worries found Smoulderweb Hatchling with Strike, Brittle Webbing and Leech Life was able to solo the Whole fight tho had another spider and a cat as back up. Keep brittle web active use Leech Life when up other time use Strike

Paww

wrote on 2018-05-23 08:23:02

definitely some bad luck here; none of the regular strats worked for me (main, syd, emporer crab was too low to try, lost my anklebiter...); I think I had some bad luck on the extra pets. So I got a little creative. Wound up using Zandalari Toenibbler 221, Hyjal Wisp xx1, and Feline Familiar 111. Toenibbler took out the spore by himself (Primal cry, black claw, flank, flank, repeat), kept him going until he died, then brough in my wisp simply to wish, then to feline familiar to take out the two ancillary pets. It wasn't pretty, but it worked!

Sheen wrote on 2017-07-27 11:44:54

The Enchanted Cauldron with Spill Hot Soup, Renewing Mists, and Whirlpool can pretty much solo this one!

Gale wrote on 2018-03-23 19:23:59

Anonymous wrote on 2017-05-24 23:00:43

Syd the Squid can solo with 2-2-1. I had my two highest HP pets in the back just so they wouldn't die. One was the Elekk Plushie. Keep Whirlpool on CD, heal as needed (I did it on CD but that probably wasn't necessary), fill with Tidal Wave.

Matt K wrote on 2017-05-26 15:00:43

This worked great for me! The original strat above failed so I used Syd and 2 other aquatic pets (crab with 1800+ hps and Magical Crawdad with 1800+ hps, lots of hps just to help them not die in case the strat didn't work). I used aquatic pets since Syd's heal also heals them a bit. All three enemies died on the same round for me! :P

Milky wrote on 2017-05-30 09:12:37

I failed on above strat and didnt want to restart so tried this and worked perfectly fine cheers

Anonymous wrote on 2017-06-17 03:41:30

Brilliant strategy! Thank you for sharing it. :)

Draculja wrote on 2017-06-17 13:23:46

Awesome strategy. This should be at least among the alternatives. It is slow, but it works great. At the end I didn't have any enemy back line pets to concern about.
At least, when you switch around 500 hp of the spore to only using tidal wave.

Telepatra wrote on 2017-06-25 14:28:16

This strat worked perfectly for me (combined with the above frog one, elekk in third spot) after the main one here failed and I was worried I was gonna hafta heal. Thanks for the tips, fren!

Anonymous wrote on 2018-04-28 14:55:35

I didn't have Syd the Squid, so I used Bleakwater Jelly w/ 1-2-1 along with Stitched Pup w/ 1-2-2 & Scourged Whelping w/ 2-2-1. The Bleakwater Jelly pretty much did all the work. Kept doing Whirlpool & Tidal Wave and Tentacle Slap every so often. I was able to get the spore down while the other 2 pets were a little under half health. My jelly died along with the stitched pup, so when my whelpling came in I was able to Tail Sweep the remaining two without any issues. It came really close. I had tried a lot of strats and none seem to work for me. I guess this one was just a fluke.

Envision wrote on 2017-07-10 19:24:34

P/P Emperor Crab, 2,2,1. Put up shell shield and keep it up then surge and heal as needed. Solo every time

Phi wrote on 2017-07-24 17:03:29

This saved my bacon after an unfortunate disco on the last pet. My Ikky was already toast, and there was Crabby just waiting to kick ass and take names.

LN wrote on 2017-09-06 11:48:40

TY. Saved my bacon as well. Crab Soloed. Before this the RNG had gotten me and "available" back pets took too much damage from boss AOE. Going to make this my primary team for everling spore and level a couple of H/H Beasts.

Sanayrin

wrote on 2018-04-28 00:20:28

Like you said, Emperor Crab soloed ^^ Hight recommend!

CrazyRabbitLady

wrote on 2018-03-21 07:00:20

Hi there!

I have only recently started doing these after a break from WoW, and all the strategies here are awesome, so, huge thanks!

I did have a problem with my backline pets being too low on health the finish off the other pets, though.

So I went with Unborn Valkyr, Curse of Doom, Haunt, then on with Ikky. This meant I had a full health Valkyr for the remaining two pets.

Johnny D wrote on 2017-05-09 23:57:09

This is the challenge strat, but in one of the earlier fights it says to use Teroclaw Hatchling until it dies. I happened to be okay with a Tranquil Mechanical Yeti, but it was close and I was lucky.

Aranesh

wrote on 2017-05-14 05:25:08

Very true. The Teroclaw mostly doesn't die on Vilefang, but it happens on occasion so I now exchanged it here with "Any Beast" :-)

Remte

wrote on 2017-05-17 14:00:55

You've forgotten about making a change in the strat itself! :)

Aranesh

wrote on 2017-05-18 05:38:55

Fixed! Thank you :-)

Nocte wrote on 2018-01-07 15:33:16

Because dungeons are a thing, and Teroclaw is very common- just level 3 of them, and set your team options in Rematch to always load highest health pets.

I did the same thing with MPD, Darkmoon Zeps, and Ikky

Jedana wrote on 2017-07-26 08:24:02

Syd the Squid (2-2-1); Plushie; Teroclaw

whirlpool, tidal wave x2, healing. Keep whirlpool on cooldown; heal when needed, tidal wave in between.

Soloed the encounter. Lost the teroclaw, plushie survived.

Semi wrote on 2017-09-07 14:50:31

Thanks - Worked like a charm. Lost my Emerald Proto-Whelp and my beast got stomped with the suggested strat (although it usually works) and needed a backup plan. This one is flawless, Syd doesn't even come close to dying.

katiefraggle wrote on 2017-10-16 12:32:01

I have a terrible time getting the posted strat to work. this... Syd is a champ. =) solo's the fight. he's not difficult to get from darkmoon. He drops way more often than the eye does. =) Love this strat. Thanks!

texanrogue wrote on 2017-10-21 22:57:25

So I ran into the same problem where I needed a backup. I didn't have Syd the Squid but Pandaren Water Spirit works the same as your posted strat :) Thank you :)

Hostile wrote on 2017-12-02 16:03:37

ability(513)

Felina wrote on 2017-07-04 20:56:19

Eternal Strider - Use Pump over and over very fast and easy way to kill boss. then just clean up other pets

Shelnosya wrote on 2017-07-14 23:50:45

Thanks for posting this strategy! I was unfortunate to be unsuccessful with the posted strat since my EPW died in a previous fight and the back-line pets took too much AoE damage to survive the enemy pets. I was actually able to solo this fight by using healing wave once with the first raptor and pump every other time!

Poochi wrote on 2017-07-12 13:22:40

For back up pets I recommend any that are H/H breed, simply to survive with enough health to kill the last two remaining pets. The AOE from spore can completely destroy your back up pets. Magical Crawdad as a back up shined here with Shell Shield + Wish to stabilize and kill the rest of the team.

Morgwilith wrote on 2017-05-31 02:26:33

As noted on a comment on second of May, a regular Frog can solo this - keep Healing Wave & Kiss on cooldown, use Water Jet in between. Have two high-health pets in the backline so they can survive the aoe going out

Apple wrote on 2017-06-04 19:27:25

This worked great I used Anubisath Idol in the back HH to survive

Ralthor wrote on 2017-06-07 10:35:12

Tried and it worked. What do you care if the back line dies though? :)

McBadden wrote on 2017-06-17 18:43:42

Because his AoE is divided across the whole team. If you have team mates dying off in the backline, that's more damage the frog or syd will take in the front to the ability; costing you the match.

PruShendralar wrote on 2017-07-09 06:59:57

This saved me having to run the whole instance again after some nasty crits and backline deaths. Thanks!

Vettir wrote on 2017-06-23 23:04:36

Solo with Young Mutant Warturtle 111.
Maintain shell shield, pump until Spore is under 274, then Water Jet. For other pets, maintain shell shield, pump and water jet as you see fit. For smallclaws, I find pump, jet, pump will kill them.

Epytropos wrote on 2017-06-23 14:29:47

Tried every strat here and in the other page and lost all of the suggested pets and most of my beasts before I started to get creative.

What worked (barely) was this:

Fen Crab
Cinder Pup
Feline Hunter

[Crab]
Rip
Blood
Spiny
Rip
Rip
Blood
Spiny
[Continue till crab is dead; boss was too]
[Cinder Pup]
Volcano
Flame Breath until pup dies
[Feline Hunter]
Stoneskin
Devour if beast still alive
Onyx bite until flying deviate dies.

Ended the fight with something like 125 hp, but that was with several opponent crits.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-05-02 09:59:12

Completely solo'd this boss with Garden Frog, keeping kiss on CD.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-05-13 17:49:02

Great strat here. This should be main strat. Kiss on CD, heal on CD and water jet when neither of those are up. Worked perfect.

This strategy worked for me, I did not have an Emperor crab or Ikky Leveled to 25. For the Beast pet i threw in Zandalari Anklerender (Black claw, primal cry, and Hunting party) and Emerald green proto whelp which died so he was no help.

Oona wrote on 2017-05-28 10:32:50

Might try this next time. Main strat almost failed this time.

Solo with H/H Emperor Crab 2/1/1
1- Renewing Mist
2- Shell Shield
3- Surge
4+ Refresh Mist & Shield when 1 turn remaining on buffs, use Surge between refreshing buffs.

There is no "suggest" panel here, so well, excuse me.

No pet from the current schedule is involved.

Enchanted Broom (Broom, Sweep, Clean-Up)
Unborn Val'kyr (Shadow Shock, Curse of Doom, Haunt)
Infected Squirrel (Stampede, Creeping Fungus, Corpse Explosion)

Sweep
First add comes in
• Use Broom and Clean-Up as you like until the first add dies, but do not kill it until the cooldown on Sweep shows 1.
BES comes in
Sweep
Second add comes in
• Use Broom and Clean-Up as you like until Enchanted Broom stops to function.
Bring in your Unborn Val'kyr
• Is the second add still alive?
Yes: Shadow Shock until it dies (dammit if it's a croc… >.>)
No: Curse of Doom
Curse of Doom if it wasn't performed before
Haunt
Bring in your Infected Squirrel
Creeping Fungus
Stampede – Infected Squirrel enters the damned state
Corpse Explosion if you can still attack

1. If you have raptors and no crocs, consider Batter instead of Broom. In a case of both at once, swap Clean-Up for Wind-Up. Imp and Corgi have a similar problem :D
2. Due to Boss passive it may happen that your Val'kyr would need to fight again, so be it.
3. Perhaps Xu-fu will eat me for so many "ifs", but it's simpler than it looks once you see it in action! :)

Good luck! (in Oculeth's voice)

If there is any exception not included here, feel free to note and tell what you did to deal with it.

Aboynamedsue wrote on 2017-05-07 08:58:20

I don't have an Ikky at max level so I just used a Magical Crawdad (H/H) with a Warbot (P/P) as a secondary pet. the 3rd pet didn't live through the AoE but now that I've seen how much damage he does, I'm guessing something with over 1400 health will live. The crawdad can basically solo the Everliving Spore with the following rotation:

1) Whirlpool
2) Renewing Mists
3) Surge
4) Surge

Using this rotation the crawdad lasted until the 2nd deviate pet came in and got it below 400 health when it died, at which point I brought in the Warbot. The warbot ate a hit and resurrected and shot/killed the deviate in 1 shot.

Malice wrote on 2017-05-14 11:03:05

great strat! i solo'ed with the magic crawdad with this rotation. Thanks!

2 PET strat...

OMG finally after trying everyone's strat's with slight variations of 3 pets, because I didn't have one pet or another I came up with my own. Let alone a 2 pet strat.

Pandaren Water Spirit 321 making sure to use whirlpool and dive when off CD
Teroclaw 231 making sure to block the first attack as he raptor enters giving you a chance to heal
Water Strider as back up pet

Also this is the cheat sheet I use periodically to help when im stuck. I also use the pet battle addons which are great for tracking and saving all pet battles for future use throught my account.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-03-29 14:55:51

Syd the squid completely ruins the enemy team, with 2,2,1 setup I didn't even have to use my backup pets. Use wirlpool on cd, use heal when necessary and fill in with tidal wave.

Sophdog wrote on 2017-03-30 07:29:45

Syd the Squid is definitely the MVP for this fight. He barely takes a scratch and the enemies in the backline don't even get a look in.

Poochi wrote on 2017-03-30 14:22:59

Yeah, above strat sucked, but tried this instead. Thank you. Syd worked great and owned the other team. But if you need a backup I recommend Magical Crawdad, since he gets healed also from Syd and he has high health.

Emelie wrote on 2017-03-31 18:55:16

Tyrsa wrote on 2017-04-26 10:36:14

This Syd strat works great. I have used it every week thus far and its yet to fail. Backline pets will die unless they're aquatic and can take advantage of the healing stream effect, but you won't even need them.
This week I had a Bleakwater Jelly and Benax in the backline. Both lived. The deviate flapper died in the backline and the chomper had 23hp left when the Everliving Spore died, which Syd took care of easily.

Trumpet Strike, Trample until Everliving Spore dies, Trample until Leatherhide Runt dies. Unborn Val'kyr -- Haunt, Blighthawk -- Consume Corpse, then Lift-Off and Infected Claw until battle is done.

Fink wrote on 2017-04-20 20:53:04

I had quite a trouble with this fight, because i didnt want to use black claw+ stampede efect combo. For fun and giggles. And what i found out, that this fight is really easy, just pick 3 high health beasts with Trample ability. Spore's aoe will do less than 100 dmg to every one. I used Zao (due to Wish), Baby Elderhorn (tough and cuddly and headbutt stronk vs backline pets - elderhorn is the pet you want to hit with wish if shit goes bad) and clefthoof runt for trumphet strike. Just spam Trample, and Zao SOLOES! the boss with your backline over half hp. Good Luck Have Fun!

Comanu wrote on 2017-04-21 13:40:28

NightLilly wrote on 2017-04-20 13:48:30

Since my 1 Teroclaw Hatchling died, I used Puddle Terror, 1 1 2. Dive has the same cooldown as Dodge & P.T. also has Natures Ward.

Losbennett wrote on 2017-04-08 17:31:06

Syd the squid with 1-1-1 is good for this, since he takes less damage from the AOE. Keep bubble and whirlpool on cooldown.

Thezedword wrote on 2017-04-17 05:03:42

I used Tidal Wave in addition to Bubble and Whirlpool. This effectively knocked out the backline pets and I was able to finish off the boss without bringing in any of my other two pets. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Sarth wrote on 2017-04-16 20:42:42

If you only have 1 Teroclaw available, and it died on the first fights, you can use 2-1-1 Chi-ji instead, same strat, but with a lower cd 'evade'.

Cottonpandÿ wrote on 2017-04-16 20:08:00

I swapped in a Dream Whelpling as it has the same 2/2/2 accept as 1/2/2 as emerald proto-whelp. Takes the need of having two Emerald Proto-whelps out of the picture.

Peppercat wrote on 2017-04-12 16:00:30

Toothy or Snarly with 1/1/2 works great. Back up pets with strong defense against the AOE attacks and you should be good.

This is my Pet Battle Dungeon Tab
Requires a lot of doubles/triples; but they are generally available in the Auction House. (Unlike the Emerald Proto's which are capture only and pretty rare.)

The first time you have a Pet X put in Pet X (one) ... then the next time you see that pet, if you can, cycle to Pet X (two) ... and so on. Fill in for dead pets/missing pets with similar type and "strong vs" abilities if you need to.

Try to find/buy 3 of the following:
Darkmoon Tonk
Darkmoon Zep
Clockwork Gnome
Lil' Bling
Teroclaw Hatchling
Anklebiter (Kneebiter in a pinch)
Mech Pandaren Dragonling

And if you love farming the Emerald Proto Whelp.
Having tons of various Moths wouldn't hurt either.
Magic types strong vs aquatic are also nice fillers if you have too many holes.

Sorta quick killed it with an Unborn Valkyr 2-2-1 and a Zandalari Kneebiter 2-2-1.
Start with Doom, follow up with shadow shock, then use haunt. Bring in the Kneebiter, cast black claw, then follow up by hunting party.

The other 2 pets can be killed by first using black claw, then leap. When the last pet comes in, black claw and hunting party kills it before they start doing damage.

The strategy listed above (for me) didn't work because the Emerald Protowhelp die before I could even get a cast off, so I improvised a little.

As an 'any pet' I'd suggest any pet with a speed higher than 300 as their pets seem to be faster. Also avoid dragonkin or humanoid pets :>

Nekita wrote on 2017-04-07 05:10:04

This worked really well and I didn't need my Teroclaw at all, but keep in mind that the guide suggests using it until it dies on the earlier Vilefang fight (though mine easily survived that) and some people might not have it alive by the time they reach the end here. Maybe suggest something else as an emergency 3rd pet just in case?

Hermy wrote on 2017-04-02 15:37:29

I only barely made it in challenge mode with this strat. Both my backline pets were almost dead thanks to Breath, so possibly a Beast in the third slot might be better. Emerald Proto-Whelp didn't get to heal, and died from one hit. I had the Sunreaver Micro-Sentry in the third slot, with Haywire, then Call Lightning and then Laser - and I was just really lucky that Pet #3 was a flying type!

Elìd wrote on 2017-04-01 05:46:25

Managed to solo this with Syd the Squid 1/2/1.
Whirpooled then waterjetted and at around 1200 health used healing stream, which is buffed from cleansing rain. From there just kept whirlpool up and healed on cool down with water jet between for the whole fight.

Syd's health did get pretty low at some points, think I finished the fight around 200 health. I had a Zandalari Kneebiter P/P and my EPW P/P (I used him the rest of "dungeon," why ditch him now? lol). Because of Spore's Dreadful Breath, Kneebiter finished the fight with pretty low health, too, and the EPW just died (started with ~1350ish health).

I don't know if something similar will always work, I wasn't keeping track of crits or anything, and I can't quite remember if I used one or two water jets before Syd's first heal. I do know that I used Syd the first time I faced this boss (for the quest) and he did well then, too.

Mirror Strider finished off the Everliving Spore using Pump and Healing Wave, and the second pet with Pump and Water Jet. The Wisp easily finished off the third pet.

Smilla-Whisperwind wrote on 2017-03-28 17:16:16

Purple Puffer might be a better choice than Pandaren Water Spirit, Ive soloed entire team twice with it now, not even close to having any problem with boss. 1-2-2
Pump-Pump (Cleansing rain will be up before it goes off) Pump- Heal (full health) Pump and finish off with water jet, using Heals on CD

Shashos wrote on 2017-03-28 19:16:02

Smilla-Whisperwind wrote on 2017-03-29 11:01:04

Glad people liked my suggestion! Striders, Goldfish and Fishy will probably also work (same skillsets) I just picked the one I had with the most power 325 for Purple Puffer. I might try Tiny White Carp next with waterjet, cleansing rain and healing stream just to see how that would work in keeping backline pets high health

I used a Enchanted Broom to sweep the boss away, Wind Up > Broom x3 kills the first pet and sets up the 2nd sweep. On 2nd pet you should use Wind Up and then Broom until it dies then you have 2 fresh aquatic pets to finish off the last pet then take on the boss.

FlibbitSC wrote on 2017-03-28 23:46:02

The Rematch data for this whole challenge (button in the left column) uses Ash Lizard and Bombay Cat as the "any level 25 beasts" for this - not a good option. I had a chomper and a flapper as my two add on opponents in this fight and it was such a near thing, even using the awesome Purple Puffer strategy above. Would love to hear some suggestions for a better second string to reinforce on this fight. Thanks Smilla for calling out the Puffer!

Aranesh

wrote on 2017-03-29 04:01:13

Sorry for that, the "any beast" option uses specific pets that I chose at random because Rematch does not support the idea of "Any Level 25 of a specific Family" in the strings. When I rework this system I'll have to find a better solution for it.

Sogath wrote on 2017-03-29 02:32:49

Had trouble with all of these on Challenge mode. I used:

Mud Jumper/Eternal Strider
Pump until Water Jet will kill the boss, Water jet to kill

Bring in Emperor Crab
Shell Shield (keep on cool down)
Renewing Mists (keep on cool down)
Snap to clean up

My last pet was the Fel Flame because it was H/H. I ended up not needing it. I just wanted anything that would live through the boss AoE. I was also really low on good pets. Had lost both Zandalaris, Bigglesworth, Tonk, Teroclaw, Ikky and Emerald Proto. This strategy worked great though. I tried with Mud Jumper the first time, but lost a back line pet and couldn't clean up with my first crab. Then I beat it using the Strider with no problem.

Also, the first run through is Disney Land compared to challenge mode. I used the emerald Proto strat listed here for most fights and made sure to heal up at the end. You can burn through pets really quick if you're not careful.
