I used an HP Axebeak and he didn't die fast enough using full strat so I left out decoy completely and he killed Delta and got a hit in on Scars. Scars team damage almost killed my level 13 pet so I recommend a 15. Also left off decoy for Zepp and just missiled twice and exploded because Little Blue would have killed my leveling pet otherwise with his team damage.

As with the comment just below yours, if a strat failed for you, please specify HOW it failed, so that others can investigate. Nobody can do anything if you just say it "didn't work". Even if you say something like "Axebeak died before being able to attack Scars", that's not much, but it gives us something to go on. Personally, I think this strat does work (though nearly all strats have a tiny chance to fail if RNG goes nuts).

What pets and breeds did you use? Where did the battle deviate from the strat given? Were there any crits? You can review your battle in the Pet Battle log of your chat and take screenshots, or you can use the addon Pet Battle Log Keeper with the "Save PvE Battles" option ticked on to keep a record.

I'll elaborate: I failed twice in a row in the same place with a level 13 carry pet not weak to any attacks from any of the enemy pets. Every time the carry pet dies to Little Blue's final Primal Cry AE ability... right before Darkmoon Zeppelin's explode ability goes off (it was queued before Primal Cry was used).

OK that makes sense, and is helpful. The carry pet in the linked video started with 711 HP and was hanging by a thread at the end. Its final health wasn't shown, but I'd say 10%, so it took about 630 damage, which is consistent with the recommendation in the strat. A crit on any of the AoE hits would have killed it. It took 3 AoE hits, so the failure rate would be 15%.

Somebody could take a closer look at the numbers, but on that basis, perhaps ~800 HP for a carry pet would be a safer recommendation.

I just tried it. My carry pet took 227 damage twice from BONESTORM and 175 from Primal Cry for a total of ... 629 - which I presume is where the suggested minimum health in the strat comes from. Now, what is a reasonable margin of safety to suggest? that's an interesting and legitimate question. Missile has a wide damage range, which can cause more RNG as well, perhaps leading to a second Primal Cry.

The absolute maximum I think a carry pet could suffer using this strategy is 2 BONESTORM crits and 1, maybe 2 Primal Cry crits, if Missile can hit low enough consistently enough to allow it. So that's ... um, 1206 damage, but very unlikely.

So, with that in mind, what is the right health number to suggest?

Not all strats posted are reliable, especially since the crowdsourcing, and so failure to replicate is important feedback. However, Lazey is one of the most experienced strat-makers and unlikely to walk into the pitfall of assumptions that can mislead beginners.

Saying that a strat failed needs more backup. You did specify the breed you used, and that might be a clue, since I wouldn't keep an S/B breed in my roster. But you also need to explain where your attempt deviated from the posted strat. Did your Axebeak die too early? Were there any crits? like that. You can review your battle in the Pet Battle log of your chat and take screenshots, or you can use the addon Pet Battle Log Keeper with the "Save PvE Battles" option ticked on to keep a record.

Why on earth have you leveled an S/B Axebeak? If a pet only has H/B, B/B, S/B, P/B, well, then S/B might be a decent choice. But the Axebeak has such excellent flyer breeds like P/P and H/P (and I like also the S/S), there is absolutely no reason to level an S/B or P/B. IMO.

Not saying that the breed is responsible for your problems with this battle, just wondering…

That's the point of using Explode instead of just finishing off the last pet yourself. The levelling pet comes in for a brief moment at the end and becomes eligible for exp.

The TD Script will use Explode even if your leveling pet is dead, essentially forfeiting the fight. This is an updated script, that will only use Explode if your leveling pet isn't dead yet:

Only problem I had was that Explode was losing the fight for me since it is the last pet out for me and it would suicide and lose the battle. I just manually kept pressing Missile at the end to keep Explode from going off.

If you're using this strat, then Zepp shouldn't be your last pet. You should have your leveling pet still up (unless it died to aoe, in which case, you'll need a higher level/hp leveling pet in the backline).

Is the script not checking for barrage, or.... ?? I'm not sure how that stuff works, but while using the script, my Decoy didn't happen until after barrage was finished, and my Zep was almost dead.

Bone Barrage is used by the enemy team. It's right there in the script.
"ability(Decoy:334) [ !self.aura(Bone Barrage:1092).exists ]"
So I guess to answer my original question, it -should- be checking for bone barrage. It just wasn't working for me??? Can't recall. It's been too long since I originally posted this. lol.

I did five attempts before giving up because all my pets kept dying.

Feels like something has changed since the last time "Pack Leader" was up, because while this strategy has always been RNG... it didn't consistently fail. =/

Mech. Axebeak, and Lil Smokie is all you need. decoy, haywire, then alpha strike into Scars fight all the way until haywire comes off cd, then haywire and Axebeak will die, bring in Lil Smokie throw a mine field then missile, Scars dies, Blue comes in minefield takes half his life missile him till dead.
