Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Like for another fight, an HH rare crab on the enemy team will DESTROY this setup. Just my luck I guess to find the same rare HH on two teams in a row.

I'm not sure what's going on in your attempts, but I've smoked this team with a blue-quality H/H Fen Crab in slot #2 twice in a row now. Stitched Pup only gets it down to about 66%, but EPW is the guaranteed antidote to that pet. (edited)

I've been using a variation of this strategy for 21 fights, with a 20/21 win record.
1. Unborn Val'kyr {2,2,2}
2. Stitched Pup {1,2,1}
3. Emerald Proto-Whelp {1,2,2}
It's been working so well I wrote a script for it. It uses Consume so the pup lasts much longer and uses Howl on cool down for more damage, unless it's the pup's Undead round. Doing this the Stitched Pup almost kills the second pet. The script should compensate for some of the random abilities that can throw it off such as (Asleep). The only loss was due to a moth putting pup to sleep and not getting in his Consume.

This took me three attempts due to a back-line pet being a rare P/P Fen Crab. The initial two losses were due to its Blood in the Water, but the on the third try I lucked out and the crab had switched out BitW for Dive. (edited)

any suggestions for when the backline is TWO Cerelean moths with lightening that just destroys the pup and the drake and even when i substituted an idol still TWO of them decimated me. Totally gave up after six tries. and i tried three more times with various pets and still DIED and couldn't keep the howl to kill skillrix AND defeat the two moths. I hope they are gone tomorrow.

Anne wrote on 2020-06-21 11:22:38

Yes! I used unborn val'kyr and chrominius instead of stitched pup. I think anything with howl will do. But chrominius has some nice magic attacks that are strong against flying. 3th pet doesn't matter

Shadowball

wrote on 2020-06-04 06:49:45

I've tried this strat several times to make sure I'm doing everything right. First used a green H/p Proto-Drake Whelp. When the Python shows up, the Whelp is almost dead and it fails. Thought it may be because it isn't rare, so tried Anubisath Idol. It went even worse. The other two pets failed to kill the enemy's second pet. The enemy backline pets were B/B Horny Toad and P/P Tree Python. I guess it does depend on RNG of which backline pets you get and perhaps that setup would be the unluckiest one.

Dave_B wrote on 2020-04-04 20:31:00

So I followed the plan except I used Anub instead of an EPW in the 3rd slot and used Chrom in the middle slot for Howl. Worked to perfection.

Kopciuszek

wrote on 2020-03-01 20:03:44

I used Barnaby (1 2 2) instead of Stitched Pup and it worked well too. Started with Tornado Punch, then Dodge and Jab whenever possible, filling in with Tornado Punch when available. The rest remained the same. Barnaby is from bfa - island expeditions btw if anyone wondered. :)

not sure why but when i used your strat, unborn didnt cast haunt, nor did it die. so when the stitched pup tried to consume it missed. when emerald pet is up, it tried to capture the back line pet! :)

Shiney79 wrote on 2018-11-07 08:58:29

Instead of just wasting Stitched Pups turns doing eff all damage with Diseased Bite, consider using him a little to make a bit more of a dent in the back line. After Skrillix is dead and you're on to the adds, Consume Corpse (the Valk is dead from Unholy Ascension) and then Howl before continuing with Diseased Bite, doing this got me through the first add with the ten rounds of Fel Corruption, making it a snooze fest for the Emerald Proto to clean up the last add.

Bellavia wrote on 2017-08-19 06:16:47

Chrominius gives better damage than Stitched pup, and worked much better for me with 1, 1, 2 as second pet. Otherwise followed strategy with Proto-Whelp in third Place.

This team no longer works. Not sure if it's the Undead nerf or what, but Skrillex whittles down the pets in your backline until they are almost dead before he dies. They didn't even have enough health to get the second enemy pet to half life.

Gráinne

wrote on 2016-10-10 21:21:43

No, this team still works, about the 90%+ of the time it always did. I just tried it, and it went like clockwork.

However, as always, there is no way to stop Skrillix getting off two rounds of Fel Corruption, and if one of those crits, he will have done 900+ damage to all your pets with them. That's the same RNG the fight has always had. Of course, if RNG hands you a couple of Blue pets as backup to Skrillix, that makes it tougher.

Swyftlyght

wrote on 2017-11-27 10:12:22

Indeed -- this strategy usually works well for me, but today's backline pets (blue H/P Tree Python and a green Cerulean Moth) just wipe the rest of my team before the Fel Corruption buff wears off. I'll just skip him today.

if he lasts long enough, this causes stitched pup to howl on one of the adds instead of just biting til he goes down. adding a clause to howl only on skrillex (and bringing the Dream threshold up to 900) worked better for me. (also doing presence before dream - otherwise a tree python will slaughter the EPW)

I use this strat every time it works, but i use Haunt instead of Unholy Ascension.
everything else is still same as guide says and Skrillix still dies same time seems easier to me this way.

Vinblanc wrote on 2017-02-26 01:20:55

None of the above worked for me.

Rage Kage wrote on 2017-03-20 01:26:53

I had to pass on turns 2-3 to avoid the dodge, then use Unholy Ascension. After that, bring in Stitched Pup, cast Howl and he should die.

This is correct and works well.

Thanks I modified the strategy accordingly

Hasn't worked yet and I've tried this MANY TIMES following exactly. Can't do squat especially in that his dodge lasts two rounds for me each and every time.

You've got the right pets for this, but you're doing the strategy all wrong. Set the Stitched Pup up with (1,2,1), i.e. switch Rabid Strike for Howl. Doing so makes this trivial:

Turn 1: Curse of Doom.
Turn 2: Unholy Ascension. This will miss, but we don't care. It achieves the two goals we want, which are to switch to the Stitched Pup and provide a corpse for Consume Corpse.
Bring in your Stitched Pup.
Turn 1: Consume Corpse.
Turn 2: Diseased Bite.
Turn 3: Howl - Skrillix dies.
Turn 4+: Diseased Bite till you die.
Bring in whatever
Turn 1+: Clean up

Click on Skrillix' name on top of the table and it will bring you to Wowhead. There are plenty comments that can help you find the right way :-)

Great strategy, this one. The only change i make is that i leave the 2nd Curse Of Doom a round or two - i've found that casting it as soon as you bring the Val'kyr out the second time means that it invariably goes off in the round the second enemy pet dies, completely wasting it.

If you leave it a round or two, you have it go off on the third pet, maximising the damage you're doing - especially great if your third pet is the Emerald Proto-Whelp; you get to heal up after the severe damage Skrillix's two Fel Corruptions do, so by the time you come back in after the Whelp's 3-round heal, you have initiative, as the last pet is below 50%, thus losing it's extra-speed breed advantage.

I didn't have my Stitched Pup at 25 so I had to improvise with the Rabid Nut Varmint 5000 (P/B). It actually went very smooth with the Extra Plating on the Nut Varmint Skrillix wasn't too much of a damage-dealer.

Skrillix (NPC#94649)

1: Unborn Val'kyr (2,2,2)
2: Rabid Nut Varmint 5000 (2,2,1)
3: Emerald Proto-Whelp (2,2,2)

Turn 1
Curse of Doom
Turn 2
Switch to Rabid Nut Varmint 5000 (P/B)
Turn 3
Extra Plating
Turn 4
Diseased Bite until Skrillix is Dead
Enemy pet comes in
Turn 5+
Clean up :-)
Great choices are an Anubisath Idol or an Emerald Proto-Whelp.

Same here, tried all 3 and this is the best option.

This website is AWESOME!! Thank you so much for all the hard work!

I see on the battles in the upper left-hand corner there is a "Rematch String", which copies when clicked. I have Rematch, but I have no idea how to input the string! Is this a thing?! How do you use it?!

Thanks again!!!

Hey there!
You can indeed import the teams with this Rematch String. To do so open Rematch ingame, go to the "Teams" tab (on the bottom) and then on top right there is a button called "Teams" => "Import Teams".
You can paste the string and have the team setup imported directly without hassle :-)

Hope that helps and thank you very much for the praise!!

this is by far the best one working for me post-legion pre-patch. :)
