This strategy has a RNG factor that sometimes Egcellent leaves the battle above 618 health and sometimes Red Wire kills Darkmoon Zeppelin. If these both happen in a fight you can not kill Egcellent with Explode on time.

Solution is to make sure Egcellent leaves the fight below 618 and that happens if last damage is done with Predatory Strike.

Only bold parts are different, rest is the same.

Turn 1: Ironskin
Turn 2-3: Falcosaur Swarm!
Turn 4: Predatory Strike. Gulp dies
Egcellent comes in
Turn 1-2: Falcosaur Swarm!
Turn 3: Ironskin
Turn 4: Pass (for Predatory Strike to come off from CD)
Turn 5: Predatory Strike
Turn 6: Falcosaur Swarm!
Red Wire comes in

was just going to come comment about the exact same thing, it's due to nerfing shattered defense to +50% damage from +100% damage so you'll often drop him to only 666 hp unless you pass a turn to use Predatory strike which will always get him below the 618 threshold. Note: don't use Predator Strike while he has defenses shattered though or you'll kill him too early. (edited)

You can give this a chance of being faster - while not making it take any longer - by passing Egcellent's 1st round then using Ironskin > Falc Swarm > Pred Strike (if it crits, Egcellent dies and you can use Explode on Red Wire instead) > Falc Swarm

Red Wire used Armageddon at 325 in one fight. Might've been a fluke but its the only time his hp has been close to 317

Ok had one time, where it did not work for me. My DB killed Egg, so DZ used Explode before Decoy vs Red Wire and so Red Wire revived and killed with Armageddon my level Pet.

DB can't kill egg. during the second falcosaur swarm egg uses feign death with like half the health remaining. so you most likely made a mistake somewhere (edited)

To be fair, I didn't actually get to test this, it was just theory that I never got around to revisit.
I did the pass by mistake and crit and killed Egcellent but I was writing my own script for the OP at the time and quit/restarted the fight and didn't have time to conduct further tests.
If it doesn't work please just disregard the post.

Strategy worked well, I used Lil'ragnaros as my second instead of the zep, and he just nukes red wire, no issues at all.

In very rare occasions, Egcellent is able to finish off Darkmoon Zeppelin before it can manage to cast Explode.

This happens when Egcellent uses Feign Death with more than 618 hp, area is ignited by Red Wire's Flame Jet ability, and Darkmoon Zeppelin gets critted either twice by the burn or once by Zap. (edited)

I know your comment is over a year old, but I am just noting that maybe that the "rarity" of this event has increased. I had a 2 of 3 success rate over 30+ battles and this was bouyed up by several instances of a leveling pet finishing off Egg.

Eg was at 666 often and requires Swarm to crit to get below this before FD. Secondly, it was often that DZ required 3 missiles to get into Arm health range. This means that DZ was dead IF area was ignited by Flame Jet.

So, essentially, if Eg was 666 at FD and ignite procc'd, it was a auto-loss with a lvl 1 pet...unless you got bailed out by a crit.

i don't understand the first one. DZ shouldn't try to explode when the red wire is at 317 or more hp. the script only uses explode against egg
