Substitutes:

1
Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Reliable 2 pet strategy. Rooting Yen stops him swapping when he uses Feign Death, and Resilience stops you losing a turn from Li's Spin Kick.

Requires an S/B Infernal Pyreclaw.

Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Just did this with a PB Pyreclaw. Bone Spider almost died but could've finished it off with a third pet easy.

Doesn't quite work out in 9.2 - even with the right breed - I was lucky - I actually put a lvl 24 Lost netherpup in the last shot - he had to finish off both of the last 2 boss pets - not sure how I actually managed this - I was lucky

Not necessarily super relevant, but for anyone looking at this comment in the future, 12/30/20 was NOT 9.2 but 9.0

There's no P/S Breed for the Infernal Pyreclaw

Sorry about that. Checking again, I mixed up my acronyms and was using SB Pyreclaw.

What breed of Infernal Pyreclaw were you using? The strat is intended for an S/B Pyreclaw. I previously had instructions for using other breeds, as it could be done but less reliably. Now in Shadowlands the other breeds are often insufficient, so I've removed the comment about them being a less favourable alternative.

Dipt wrote on 2020-11-19 07:35:59

doesn't work in 9.0.2. The second pet does not survive. I tried to go five times.
I went like this:

1.Infernal Pyreclaw.
- Great Sting
- (STUNNED - PASS)
- Cleave
- Cleave
- Great Sting
(Infernal Pyreclaw died)

2.Giant Bone Spider.
- Bone Bite
- (STUNNED - PASS)
(Yen is gone. Bolo came)
- Bone Bite
- (BLINDED - PASS)
- Leech Life
- Bone Bite
(Bolo died. Yen came)
- Leech Life
- (STUNNED - PASS)
- Bone Bite
(Yen died. Li came)
- Bone Bite
- Bone Bite
(Giant Bone Spider died)

3.Any pet is undead. Finish off with normal blows in two turns. (edited)

(OP) Berendain

wrote on 2020-11-19 09:59:49

You didn't follow the instructions. You need to use Sticky Web when you bring in your second pet, to stop the enemy swapping out when he uses Feign Death.

Kiirrah wrote on 2021-01-11 01:58:45

Yeah have to agree as of 2nd patch this strat doesnt work and i followed it to the letter

(OP) Berendain

wrote on 2021-01-11 07:13:25

I just tested it and the TD script is still working fine, but the written instructions said to use Leech Life at certain points when it will finish off the enemy pet. If you have an S/S Spectral Spinner then Leech Life may not be enough to kill Bolo, so just use Bone Bite instead. Leech life isn't really necessary anyway. I've updated the written instructions.

Worked with the TD Script first try THANKS!!

SilkCharm

wrote on 2021-01-07 22:58:31

I used a 24 Necrolay Spawnling in 3rd place to take on Bolo.

VanyaMia

wrote on 2020-11-19 11:54:48

Works fine in Shadowlands. I had a SB Pyreclaw and still had enough health with the Bone Spider to pass until the undead round and kill Bolo then for a levelling pet to get the XP.

Youry wrote on 2020-10-31 17:46:20

Worked even with Pyreclaw HB breed, used Adrenaline rush just after the first stun

(OP) Berendain

wrote on 2020-11-04 01:38:04

Thanks for your comment. I decided to test the P/B and H/B breeds. I don't think they're as reliable as the S/B breed it, as crits can change the order that you face the enemy pets in. If you're unlucky, you may need to use a third pet to finish them off. For that reason, I have updated the TD script and the description so that while the main strategy is for an S/B Pyreclaw, the script will work for those using a different breed.
