At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 1+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!

Still works perfectly the same as it has since 2018. I use an SS Mechanical Axebeak and always have. This has never failed me a single time.

Xar wrote on 2023-01-04 01:54:47

But I don't use a script. It works great manually, I should say.

Alyssania

wrote on 2023-01-05 23:07:49

Agreed. I just used it manually (have always done so) with a n SS MechaP and HP Axebeak and all it had to do to kill Fezwick was the Haywire. Great, simple strat.

"does not work. At all."
"fails often post-BFA"

Just posting some statements without any arguments </3

2019...

Still works :D nothing ever changed since the strategy was made.

I am literally doing it everyday to level up an alt whenever DMF is up... 4% of level daily (8% lev for both DMF pet battles per day)

Either:
- you are doing something terribly wrong (?)
- your Breed is not correct for Mechanical Axebeak.

(but o be honest any Mechanical Axebeak Breed should work, not sure, cause this pet is just so cheap to make/buy that there is no reason to use any other than P/P or S/S (aka best ones))

I've never actually thought this strategy will "fail" for anybody.. but okay!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's say that you had VERY BAD RNG and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died super early...

So lets assume that happened, you are pissed, but instead of using Mechanical Axebeak's DECOY vs Honky-Tonk, you decided to waste your precious time, downrating the strategy, and saying how bad it is, and doesnt work, etc :"(

All you have to do is T H I N K !! (sorry, caps intended) :P

VS Honky-Tonk -> just start with Mechanical Axebeak -> DECOY

(should probably include it in the strategy years ago, but in like 99/100 tries you dont even need that, even if your Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling got stunned, or died early)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TL;DR (too long; didn't read)

Strategy always worked, and still works in BFA/5th of February 2019!

If somehow you are in the worst possible situation, and your Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died super early (vs Honky-Tonk)

Bring Mechanical Axebeak:

- start with DECOY! (caps intended) :P

- Alpha Strike until Honky-Tonk is dead

- swap to any level pet (to eat Fezwick's stun)

- swap back to Mechanical Axebeak -> Haywire -> Alpha Strike until Fezwick is dead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS: Making some of the strategies can literally take HOURS of testing...

Let's respect other people time and effort. :'(

Belle

wrote on 2019-10-07 09:01:16

If your Axebeak should start with Decoy, why doesn't it say in the steps above aka strategy?

WhyDaRumGone

wrote on 2022-11-09 08:52:46

Yeah I was having RNG issues I found most of my RNG came from being stunned and then the wrong moves/crits. Using Decoy on MA worked great. It probably should be updated with that or putting an RNG tag.

I do agree its hard making strats and just saying "it sucks", "or failed for me" but not putting why is tough and doesn't help the creator improve it.

Quick TD script. Haven't tested:
-----------------------------
if [!self(#2).played]
change(#2) [self(#1).dead & enemy(#3).active]
change(#2) [enemy(#3).active]
endif
change(#3) [self(#1).dead]
change(#3) [self(#2).active]
use(Thunderbolt:779)
use(Decoy:334) [enemy(#1).active]
use(Decoy:334) [enemy(#2).ability(646).usable]
use(Haywire:916) [enemy(#3).active]

Great strat, and works 100% of the time despite what some people are commenting.

One thing that should probably be updated in the description is to specify that Decoy should be chosen for the Mechanical Axebeak's third ability slot (right now it indicates that the third slot doesn't matter). And if the MPD dies early (on Honky-Tonk), Axebeak should be brought in, and Decoy should be used first before Alpha Strike. It's not always vital, but it helps give a little buffer to protect against weird crits or Banana Barrage hits.

Maizou

wrote on 2019-05-10 01:57:13

This strategy still works perfectly fine in BFA. Not sure why people are saying it doesn't. It has worked 100% of the time for me over the past ~8 months, which is about 55 battles. (And it works WAY more reliably and easier than the Ashstone Core strategy which is the main one)

I even have a H/P Mechanical Axebeak, which isn't even one of the ones that says works, and I have zero issues with that too. Hell, half the time it kills the pet with just Haywire.

If you get unlucky and Honky Tonk kills your dragonling (often caused by Honky-Tonk stunning it), just use Decoy first with your Axebeak, then use Alpha Strike.

I'd highly recommend updating the strategy to recommend using Decoy if your Dragon dies to Honky Tonk and removing the Breed Requirement on the Axebeak, or at least adding H/P to the possible breeds, because I'm proof H/P is viable. I'm not sure if S/S is viable, but I can't imagine it would fail, as I always end up with over 50% health on my axebeak no matter what.

wrote on 2020-08-07 03:02:13

Just commenting in 8.3 to back you up - this strategy does indeed work with an S/S Mechanical Axebeak, and mine did indeed have over 50% health at fight's end. I may have been lucky with RNG and crits, but it is doable.

Drowsy wrote on 2020-04-05 12:32:04

You can beat him with Mechanical Pandaren Dragon, Mr Bigglesworth at level 10, and Lil' Bling. It was pretty easy. Good luck.

This has worked for me, but tonigth it failed twice. Doing it with the script and correct breeds. Both time my axebeak died with Fezwick having just a few hp left but my levelling pet could not kill it so switched to a standard level 25 pet.

Kathleene

wrote on 2019-04-08 18:19:40

I switched to this strategy today after the one I'd been using failed several times. This strategy worked perfectly with the addition of a Decoy when Mech Axebeak (H/P) came in to finish off Honky (as suggested in Evil's comment). Thanks for the strategy, Evil; and, as always, thanks to Xu-Fu for the wonderful website.

Brian wrote on 2018-10-09 16:12:01

Gonna put it bluntly, this does not work. At all.

abi wrote on 2019-01-11 19:38:57

it used to. I think BFA killed it. Used to work flawlessly for me, but fails often post-BFA. Ashstone Core/Lil Bling is the better strat now ime/imo.

Spider wrote on 2017-07-05 11:20:45

I used Stormwing in place of a Mechanical Axebeak (Call Lightning in place of Haywire) and it worked out perfectly!

StarMinion wrote on 2017-07-06 05:42:49

I prefer Stormwing over Mechanical Axebeak myself. I used (1, 1, 1). I don't know if I just have bad luck or what but my MPD always seems to get stunned and die too soon to the Tonk. Finishing off the Tonk with Call Lightning seems to work quicker, then after switching the level pet for the stun and switching Stormwing back in, Call Lightning and Alpha Strike finish off Fezwick really well.

Tried this strat with an SB Mechanical Axebeak and an SS Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling and it failed as a leveling strat. I had to finish Fezwick off his last 66 health points with my carry pet. Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died early, so I brought in the Axebeak and needed 2 uses of Alpha Strike to finish off Honky-Tonk. By the time I had swapped to my carry pet and my Axebeak was back into play, it was already at about 50% health, just a little low to survive Fezwick. Might have been bad luck or not enough power in my breeds :)

change(#3) [ enemy(#3).active & enemy.round=1 ]

Eekwibble

wrote on 2018-09-07 11:24:31

The Haywire line should read 'ability(Haywire:916) [ enemy(#3).active'

Also, this strat is still incredibly rng dependant.

Edmuir

wrote on 2018-09-04 12:56:12

A P/P Axebeak typically ends the fight w/ Haywire on round 3 & 4 making this a very fast strat. Highly recommended.
