I've tried this multiple times and it is very RNG. Even when Tarr's pet swaps at the start my Anubisath Idol rarely lives long enough to finish the fight :(

From what I sometimes battle, Shieldstorm before the second falling is constant.
I think that after all that time we can assume that this is indeed a rule, not an RNG caprice. :P
WH comments confirm it too.

Now all what we need to know is that if BONESTORM is still particularly helpful (to take down all shields at once) or is it better to alter the script.

Just FYI, I use howling Netherpup + Fel Pup without a specific script anyway. :)

Yeah, just I'm not sure which order is the best one. Another thing is that their moves are high RNGd.

Moves are Howl + Darkflame / Fel Immolate + their undead move, just you need to not waste Howl on swaps and shields.

I guess that starting from Fel Pup might be better to hurt Murkalot in the backrow by some DoTs. Also you need to eat Deathy before he ends his nuke.

I just tested the Valk/Fossil strat, but replacing the Valk with a Ghastly Kid.

The Kid's got heart - er, Haunt - and is a suitable stand-in for many people still freezing their sensitive bits off in Northrend waiting for a non-suicidal Valk to appear.

The strat worked as well with the Kid as it would have with the Valk, but there's definitely some RNG in play, because the Hatchling's second BONESTORM ended up taking out three shields on all Tarr's pets that were created by a Shieldstorm.

This made the fight afterwards more of a slugfest, but the Kid came through OK.

I wish I had a way to dump the combat log for later analysis.

You should try using the Unborn Valkyr(1-2-1), the Fossilized Hatchling(2-2-2) and a Level Pet(even lvl 1).
Turn 1 - Haunt
Bring in Fossilized Hatchling
Turn 1 - BONESTORM
Turn 2 - Death and Decay
Bring in your Level Pet
Bring in Fossilized Hatchling
Turn 1 - BONESTORM
Turn 2+ - Bone Bite
When Fossilized Hatchling dies, bring in Unborn Valkyr
Turn 1+ Shadow Slash / Shadow Shock

Folle, I think Xu-fu is trying to put together a guide using only pets that a new battler can easily acquire - so mostly tradeable pets that can commonly be picked up at the AH. I settled on two Blighthawks for Tarr myself, but not everyone has two Blighthawks. :)

I just tried this strat, and it worked perfectly on my one attempt. Sandstorm always introduces added RNG, but it's unlikely to matter here.

I must say, I love the exactness of this strategy, among all the stuns and swaps.

Gráinne, true, though I wanted to at least add another team composition, that also allows a Lvl 1 Pet, since it will be switched into the stun.

By now I try to avoid using the Anubisath Idol as much as I can, because its Sandstorm will always slow fights down and if you're unlucky, it can even make you lose a fight, that you should have won otherwise.

If there is a faster, yet still save way to win the battle, might as well share it.

Thanks for the suggestion Folle! More alternatives are definitely a good thing and I agree with the Idol slowing things down most of the time.
I'm currently working on adding alternatives and will try yours for sure :-)

Absolutely beautiful strategy Folle. Works like a charm, I'm adapting it as an alternative right away :D
Introduces two new pets to my roster, but the strat is just too beautiful ^^

I had the same problems with my own strategy today and can't figure out what's different. It's really weird. Will test more!

Yeah, this went like clockwork yesterday, but I'm struggling today. Failed 6 times now. On a minor point, while counting rounds, I noticed Bling gets Clobbered after only two rounds of Inflation.

Folle, I tried your strat with the Valk and the Hatchling, and it worked perfectly with my level 1, so kudos for that. It's a better strat than my two Blighthawls, so I'll be stealing .... er, borrowing ... it for myself from now on. :)

Hm., something is different today.

When Murkalot came in and I switched to my level pet, he cast Shieldstorm instead. I tried twice. First time I immediately swapped out, and my Idol took the Falling Murloc hit and died after a couple more rounds. Second time I left my level pet in to take the hit, and my Idol died due to misses during Sandstorm.
