Substitutes:

1
Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

*Any combination of Ikky and pets with Scorched Earth & Conflagrate or Flame Breath & Conflagrate should be able to kill Tormentius within 4 rounds. Make sure your random pet is in Slot#3 to not be the target of the Nether Gate forced swap.

I don't think we need stat/breed restrictions since the weaker Flame Breath & Conflagrate combo tests on my lowest power pets were successful too:
- S/S Silver Dragonhawk Hatchling with 244P (due to racial?)
- H/S Fel Flame with 260P
Maybe there could be issues with non-Dragonkin pets with <260P but I don't have/know one.

Using Immolate & Conflagrate combo pets is another option but they need to be very powerful (>310P?) due to the lack of effective dragonkin damage when applying the Burning debuff.

No longer works

*edit* This was showing up under Baruk Stone Defender for me for some reason, well done jumping on someone for not posting a five paragraph comment though. (edited)

Standard Note to those who leave unhelpful comments like "It didn't work" with no details.

There are several people who investigate reports of problems with strategies on Xu-Fu's. There are designated Strategy Curators, and other regulars who read comments and are interested in the latest.

In my experience, when people leave a short "It didn't work" note, they usually made a mistake. Maybe they used a pet with the wrong Speed, maybe they didn't do a Pass where it was indicated, sometimes they were even using the team and strat from a completely different battle. :)

Sometimes there genuinely is a problem with the strat. This is where the Curators and others come in, checking the strat for weaknesses, and fixing it or removing it if it can't be fixed.

Since most failure reports with no details are wrong, it's not good to waste people's time investigating them. Instead, help them by providing the information they need.

If the strat failed for you, and you want your comment to be taken seriously:

1. Specify EXACTLY which species and breeds you used.

2. Specify whether you read the strategy from the site and executed it manually, or downloaded and used the tdScript.

3. Specify EXACTLY where the first unexpected thing happened, the first thing that deviated from what the strat predicts. What died too early? What didn't die when it was supposed to? What attack missed?

4. If possible, provide a log. You can see your log in the Pet Battle tab of your chat box. You can pull that out, make it bigger, screenshot it. Better still, you can use the addon Battle Pet Log Keeper from Curseforge, and do /pblk and Save Battle when the battle you want to log is complete.

Almost any strat can fail to a really unlucky string of crits, and some difficult challenge strats like the Family ones may fail more than anyone likes, but the people behind this site do their best to promote well-working strats.

Do your part. Provide useful information.
