The Iron Starlette didn't work at all as of 20 June 2025. The following strategy worked for me 100% of the time and you get to level a pet! - - First Slot: - Andurs - Any Leveling Pet (no damage is taken) - Rydyr - Any Leveling Pet that can take 500 damage (just to be safe) - Second Slot: - Boneshard (P/P) (ANY, Blistering Cold, ANY) - Third Slot: - Ikky (P/S) (Quills, Black Claw, Flock) - - Use the following strategy for BOTH Andurs & Rydyr. - Round 1) Use any 1 round ... this set up worked perfect for me! unsure why the win rate is saying low but genuinely worked well. lost 1st pet when i was on the final opponents pets. good strat!
Very nice :) I tend to use boneshard for any trainer that can't leave. His (boneshard's) value comes from his stacking dmg that gets added to every round until the target leaves the ring, but can't because there is only one. Downside is those boss pets have armor and boneshard doesn't hit for much, that is where the raptor comes in as is 2 attacks puts a double armor debuff on the target, that allows boneshards debuff to do its work. This works with any pet that ... [continue reading]

OMG!OMG!OMG!!!!!! I just realized the Rematch imports & scripts are now integrated!!! YAY!!!!!!!! Including the mass imports!! YAY!!! (i already earned 99% of all the achievements the 'hard' way, but still, YAY!!!!) I know how much this will help everyone, new & old, so once again, thank you all for the efforts & coordinations!
Back when I was a noob Pet Battler, it took me some effort to figure out which Pet Dungeons were still worth doing after completion, and which were not. So here is a suggestion for an info to place somewhere on your great site:
Informational note on pet dungeon "sustainability":
Most pet dungeons become completely obsolete once you have completed all objectives and all associated achievements/pets/titles. This is true for: Stratholme, Blackrock Depths, The Celestial Tournament, The Deadmines. Some pets you can buy with the currency from The Deadmines come in different breeds, so make sure you get one of each before you forget about the dungeon.
"Sustainable" dungeons are: The Wailing Critters, Gnomeregan
Pets from these dungeons (via currency, or via random drop from the reward satchel) are tradable, so it is worth doing these two dungeons every week if you are interested in Gold/Euros/Dollars.
As an example, average prices for EU Azjol-Nerub, acc. to undermine.exchange as of 2023-12-30:
Yeah, currently WC is the only dungeon I'm running, too. (The drop rate of the Cavern Mocassin isn't bad, and it sells for 20k+ on my server.) Gnomeregan is good, in theory, but currently some discount clowns on my server are selling the pets from there for like 10k.)
You're right. The calculation assumed it was a super squirt day because technically the pet changes in the morning of the same day that was squirt, but that makes no sense of course. I've gotta look into those cases. Sorry for the confusion!
I just posted a comment to a strat, then added "Thanks for sharing." and it shows the "(edited)" tag.
IMHO, this tag only makes sense if it appears when the post has been edited after the visitor's last visit to this page. As it is now, it is just clutter, as it does not carry any useful information. (Well, it might tell the reader that the author is a bit stupid or distracted, as he was apparently incapable of posting the entire post in one go ;-) (edited)
that is rather rude!!! ever hear of an after thought??? also some phones, tablets, and laptops have an extremely sensitive send button and it may not all get out in one send yet the sender prefers to have it all in the same spot. there is a chance that the author is neither stupid, or distracted... and as far as "incapable" ... stuff happens! after thoughts don't mean a person is incapable or distracted either... which once again brings me to the sensitive send button... but a reader that takes it as that tells me that the reader is judgmental and needs to learn compassion!
I wouldn't call it "rude". I think it's useful to know, especially when you see replies that may not actually seem to relate to the post they're replying to.
And in the cases where it doesn't matter, it does no harm. (edited)
Thank you, @Gráinne, for addressing the topic of my comment.
You are right, the tag can be useful if the post has been edited after a reply has been posted.
And that brings me to a better solution (my suggestion to apply the tag only after the visitor's last visit to the page is not really helpful in this case):
– Add a grace period: Apply the Edited tag only if the edit was made later than, say, 3 minutes after the original post. (This is not uncommon on forums, e.g the Discourse software has a setting for this.)
– Ideally, add the date of the edit, so, if we see a seemingly incoherent reply, we can clearly see if the edit might be the cause.
Are there teams/scripts for the Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor daily pet battles? Trying to level from 1-70 with just pet battle dailies, and would like to level up the most pets I can efficiently. Thanks :)
There are not. The six highest are listed in the Misc->An Awfully Big Adventure menu anove, but not lower. The others will be wiped out by pretty much any Blue Level 25.
But, honestly, dailies through EK and Kalimdor are not worth doing. Only very low level carry pets will get any XP, and that not very much. And it's a lot of travelling time.
You can get very good character XP and some pet XP - better than EK/Kalimdor dailies, at least - from wild battling.
But what I would recommend is to put War Mode on, and park your alt at the pet area in Legion Dalaran.
Legion Dalaran repeatable tamers are up maybe twice a week on average, BUT when one is up, you can get full tamer XP for each battle for your pets, so a pet levelled in 4 battles, and also excellent character XP, with no travelling time, and you can repeat as much as you want while the tamer is up.
This has been bothering me for awhile and want to ask: Has anyone else been clicking the link to go directly to the comments section on an article page and instead it only scrolls down to the middle of the scroll sidebar for that web page?
Hello All, I seem to have run into a problem with Magpie website. My browsers list Magpie as "unsecure" and say the certificate has expired. Does anyone else have this notice? Thanks
Update; Thanks for the reply and all the hard work. If not for this website and all the info it provides I probably would not be doing any pet battles. Thanks once again. (edited)
Yes, I see the same. Looking at the cert, it expired yesterday. I have flagged it in the DIscord, and I'm sure Aranesh will fix it.
Meanwhile, I wouldn't let that stop you using Magpie. There is no confidential information being exchanged, and nothing that is prone to malicious use. Anyway, the SSL still holds; it's just that it's dur for renewal. (edited)
I am having trouble with what teams show up when using the "Rematch" feature on Xu-Fu when finding out what teams to use. For example, when pulling up Stratholme suggested teams it suggest a team that is further down the list and low rated by community. When the top rated team for that specific battle has like 100+ likes and I even have all the pets for at 25 its not suggesting it when clicking the rematch for the whole dungeon. It just suggest the latter (Even one of the pets suggested is one I don't have max level). I can of course just go to that specific fight in the list and just find the best team suggestion, but it'd be super helpful to have that best team already suggested in the FULL list for the entire dungeon. In my Xu-Fu settings, I have, "Script, Level, Breed, Staff Pick, Fast, Long, & Shop" in Preferred and everything else in Unfavored. Am I doing something wrong or am I just overlooking something? D:
Is there any way to automatically blacklist pets from another team in that group so it doesn't use it in "random pet" slots from other teams in that group? Hope it is understandable english is not my first language. I'm asking here because idk if there is a general chat forum, if so let me know.
I *think* you are thinking of Rematch, and dungeons.
Your question would be: is there a way to tell Rematch not to fill an "Any Pet" slot with a pet that will be used elsewhere in the dungeon. Is that right?
If so, the answer is no. When Rematch sees an "Any Pet" string, it does use a random pet.
What I have done in cases where the strat uses "Any Pet" is to import the team into Rematch and then manually fill the "Any Pet" slot with a pet of my choice.
If I have misunderstood your question, please clarify.
Magpie is broken for me. Am I the only one? Have trouble loading character and if it does load there is an error about old auction data and Blizzard API not working with no auction data being shown, only the error info. Thanks
EDIT: Thanks for all the hard work you guys do. It is very much appreciated. (edited)
I spent ages working to get the 1500 pets for Proven Pet Parent which I finally got 12/05/22 only to have it nerfed days later!! VERY disappointed! Since the nerf, the pet collection is no longer updating, at first it was not on Blizz but now it seems it is just xufu,
the site is acting weird for me, takes long time to load, then white page, and can not update anything for my pet collection or my profile. Are they in maintenance mode ? I will make a last attempt and then stop the link with my battle net until i know its safe (edited)
They literally must have done that within the past week or so because I was JUST working towards that over the past few weeks and I am only FIVE pets away from the 1500. I'm so mad now. (edited)
Indeed, a horrible experience without tdBattlePetScript. Had to do pet battles today by clicking the correct ability button each round! On top of that, BattlePetBreedID seems broken too. Guess I'll suspend my pet activities until someone fixes these ;)
UPDATE: Super has just confirmed it is now available on Curseforge.
Hrmph, this Younger Generation who find it too much work to click different buttons... Arrr, when I was young, we had to click ALL our buttons while trudging in the snow all the way around Pandaria , and it was uphill both ways! (Shakes stick and yells at clouds.)(edited)
Are you getting any actual errors with tdBattlePetScript Rematch, or is it just saying out of date? Because if it's working and you are not getting errors, I wouldn't worry about it.
@Shadow11, Blizz's "Outdated" check is a fake check, as it just reads a number in the addon's index file (toc). That is, if my addon is completely incompatible with a new game version because of API changes, I can make it "updated" for Blizz' check by just updating that number, even if the addon crashes your game, freezes your computer and drinks your beer.
Many addons that haven't seen updates for months or even years are still 100% compatible. Maybe they are truly abandoned (and still work or not), or maybe the author just decided to not waste his time with toc updates, if the addon is not affected by the last patch changes.
Yes, it is really reassuring to know that we now have an actively developed continuation of the old addon. I've always dreaded the day when tdBattleScript stops working and no one can fix it.
There is an error in Magpie. Something about the API not updating. TSM link indicates API hasn't updated for 2 months but I haven't had this message that long. Is it just me or does everyone have the same error icon. Thanks
EDIT: Icon is gone and everything is good. Magpie updating and current. Thanks (edited)
Hi, when will the feature to import the pet collection be back online? It keeps telling me it's deactivated & to check again in a few hours, but when I try again a few hours later I get the same message :)
Hello, great website, is there a way to sort all pets by owned % ?
I'm trying to figure out the rarest pets i have but can't seem to find a way to figure it out without having to manually scroll each of my pets on the website
Hey, yes there is!
If you go here https://www.wow-petguide.com/Profile/Collection you'll see a blue "Export to Excel" button. Download the sheet, open it in Excel (or google sheets or whichever you prefer) and you'll have a much more detailled list of all pets. It has the ownership percentages included in one of the columns towards the right and you can sort/filter to your liking.
Fair warning though, this percentage is only taking collections into account that are present here on Xu-Fu's, that means mostly people who are into pet battles. The numbers across all WoW are likely much lower.
We don't have a dedicated list for them but if you go through each Dungeon section, the pets you can get are listed in the articles. And if you hover over each of them you can see if you already have it or not :)
I am looking for help with something, I had an addon once that let you see battle pets on your map and lost it can anyone tell me of one. Thank you and yes I use Pettracker but it is not allowing me to see pets
There seems to be a bug where it shows different dates depending from which timezone you open the page. I'm looking through that code at the moment to figure out what's going on exactly. Sorry for the confusion!
Thanks for looking at it. If it helps, when I checked few weeks ago (from the same computer), I think it actually said 3/24. But changed before the actual day-of. Perhaps some new code got deployed?
My current theory is that the server move changed it. New server appears to treat daylight savings and timezones differently. I've added a bunch of tracking and logging to it now so I can see what exactly is happening.
But in all honesty, I'll probably have to rewrite most of that widget... yay! :D
Click Here to see Older News just hid the option and nothing appeared. I suppose there could just be no older news (previous to the Snowy Owl) that made the port, but idk. Thanks for the site!
Thanks Dragons... it was indeed a problem with not being logged in. I fixed it though, it should now load fine no matter if you're logged in or not :-)
I wish that it was possible to export/mass export teams including the TDPetBattleScript strings in one press. Albeit, I understand that this is a limitation of the addons, not the site. (edited)
Ive sent a personal email a while back explained how MUCH this has helped me getting over a stroke. I was so confused i couldnt even do pet duels. With the one click thing and this page. My memory has actually jimproved and that *fear* of talking to people has been dialed back a bit . THANKS
I'm happy to hear that you are recovering, and still enjoying pets. Be well! If you want more conversation with pet battlers, who are the friendliest community in WoW, you would be welcome in Xu-Fu's Discord, a link to which which ts above this on the right-hand side, or in the Warcraft Pets Discord.
Both are pretty quiet by Discord standards, but always friendly. :D
I'm looking for an add-on, that automatially revives and/or heals my pets, if no cooldown with "Revive", else with a bandage. Probably there's nothing like this - or I'm simply to blind... Any suggestions (no regarding my blindness :P )?
Don't think your able to cast that action from automatic scripts, and only from secure buttons. You probably could make a WA instead that tells you wether you have dead pets when not in combat
If you have a roster of the standard Level 25 pets, you will probably find a suitable strat in there. Not so much for Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms, because any Level 25 Blue will just destroy everything you face.
It takes up too much space, especially when there's already plenty of scrolling involved on the page. I'd use an element picker to hide it, but unfortunately I can't get it to not also hide the rest of the article news displayed here. (edited)
I see, okay! Would an expanding bar work for you? So by default there's only a small bar saying "More News" and nothing else. And if you click on it it would expand down into the longer table.
Give it a try at a later point. The news are being loaded when you click and the server is currently a bit ... slow in responding, sometimes crashing. Could be that you clicked when exactly that was the case.
(and yes, working on it, moving to a new server in a few days ^^)
I think the XP tables (the tooltip XP tables on the strats) need an update. I noticed this already a while ago on another occasion, and currently I’m leveling with Sir Galveston (pet Battles Bonus Event week), and I can definitely level a level-1 pet to 25 in two goes with just the Safari Hat on.
According to your table I would have to add a Lesser Pet Trait in order to accomplish in two turns.
With only Safari Hat it goes 1 --> 17 and then 17 --> 25. Not, as suggested, 17 --> 24.
As said, I think this is not only a Pet-Battle-Week-thingy, the tables seem to be slightly off in general.
PS: Why does the “edited” in posts appear with uninterpreted formatting tags? Or is it just my browser? (edited)
Been a while since I tinkered with those tables ^^ Perhaps there's some other effect stacking onto it? I have to dig into it. Thanks for flagging it!
I'm currently working on another feature that I want to get out first but I've logged it as a bug:
I can’t think of any other stacking effects I could have had. (Unless Black Iron Dwarfs have a hidden pet XP bonus racial ;) Hey, that would be a great racial!) Are there any others besides the buffs listed in your XP tables?
Will double-check today or tomorrow for any buffs.
Here some results from a Draenor round-trip today (all with Sign of the Critter and Safari Hat):
[The “XP” are the gained experience points according to the log.]
Ashley: 1 --> 19 with 13485 XP; table is correct
Vesharr: 1 --> 17 with 11238 XP; table is correct
Teralune: 17 --> 25 with 12647 XP; table says: 17 --> 24 with 13098 XP Tarr the Terrible: 17 --> 25 with 12647 XP; table says: 17 --> 24 with 13098 XP Gargra: 13 --> 23 with 14493 XP; table is correct
Cymre Brightblade: 1 --> 17 with 11238 XP; table is correct
Summary:
Your tables are correct for the low-level (1; Ashley, Vesharr, Cymre) and mid-level (13; Gargra) range. But in the high-mid range (17; Teralune and Tarr) it seems Blizz has lowered the XP requirements (i.e., you gain more levels with less XP).
This would also be coherent with what I’ve seen yesterday with the Sir Galveston grind.
BTW: This was on different toon than yesterday; so, unfortunately, no Dark Iron Dwarf bonus racial ;-)
Thanks for all the details! Had an insanely busy week at work :/ I'll spend some time this weekend on my current project and hopefully will have time after to look into these numbers and the formula!
Just revisiting this topic. With the XP changes of 9.1.5 I've modified the values and calculation and it *should* be correct again. Theoretically. Hopefully. I haven't checked every single individual fight though, obviously ^^'
Just did an hour of leveling with Amalia, and I can 100% confirm your numbers :)
With Safari Hat and both Pet Treats: 1.00 --10059--> 16.82 --12141--> 24.14
An idea, not sure how easy it would be... allow a user to search strats by pet? When I upgrade a pet to max, I wish I knew if there were strats using that pet that might be better than the ones I was already using.
That is not as simple as it sounds. In some cases, a strat may specify one or more breeds, like P/S and S/S but in many others will specify absolute stats, like Speed > 305. And then there are substitutes ...
Ah, thanks. I tried that, but apparently with the wrong pet. If there are no strats for the pet the tab doesn't appear... so I didn't know there even was one.
While I love that list, and consult it often when deciding on missing assorted pets, it's from 2019. Many new pets, new fights, new reasons to have other breeds of old pets. Still chuckle at the idea few would be interested. My husband won't bother catching a wild pet until I've discussed how I've used it recently-ish, and what the percentages are of the breeds on the list. This included the Silithid Hatchling, during the darn sandstorm! Would be awesome if this was a regular updated survey, or something. Probably difficult, getting the top battlers to update such a thing per new expansion, and then compile it though.
Ugh. I did start to update it for 2021. I never finished. So sad that so many of the Old Reliables have gone, or at least are not getting new pets. I should get back to it tho.
You can look at the ratio of breeds among users of Xu-Fu in the new Pet Statistics, but I wouldn't trust those, I'm afraid. The 2019 Survey has Fiendish Imp at S/S(76%),P/S(13%),P/B(11%), which is sane, while the Statistics show that among Xu-Fu users the numbers are S/S(37%),P/S(32%),P/B(31%) https://www.wow-petguide.com/Pet/71033/Fiendish_Imp/Stats and the vast superiority of the S/S doesn't show up at all.
One problem, though, is that so many of the new pets just don't matter for battling. I've largely stopped caring about Deathroach-ish breeds myself.
Ah, yeah. I keep reading all that about battlers, and new pets. Fingers crossed something good emerges. Eventually.
We had a WoW break during the time the new exp came out, so playing catch up. (We weren't thrilled about how the general game lore was going.) Loving the new wild pet battle exp. Found out when I was working down my "Go sort out..." list. Usually toss as many similar level queue pets in a capture team as reasonable, for what used to be almost pointless exp. Shocked about the dead leveling 50% deal too, although, would rather never 'enjoy' that if possible during tamer leveling. Still may make the occasional rng or bug issue less of a time waster. Not looking forward to seeing what changed with flurry, etc. One of my favorite things included finding sets of wild pets to use in somewhat reliable strats. Hope that's not broken all of those up.
Too bad the statistics wouldn't use something like max level win results 2 or more to count as a 'battle pet' breed held by the player. Which would still be off, but at least it means the pet of that breed was used in an actual pet battle by at least that player.
I just upgraded to Shadowlands (Black Friday deals) for myself and my 2 kids. I'm not too thrilled about all of the death and afterlife lore coming out of it. I played "Classic" and Burning Crusade back when they weren't classic and then took a break. More like quit... instead of writing LUA for addons I learned/started writing Visual Basic and C# for actual work :)
i can not find how to change the default key. also when you "mass rematch export" why doesn't the TD scripts come with the teams? i have to load TD script separately.
Hey, a weird thing is happening on Xu-Fu account. It keeps defaulting to Kr/Tw for things like the Squirt day counter on the front screen. I play in the US
Love the site! Would it be possible to add a CSV or spreadsheet export to the "ready" lists? I would like to import it into LibreOffice Calc so I can track which pets I need to obtain, level and rarify. I tried copy/paste from 3 different browsers and also the text import tool, but stuff was coming out in the wrong columns. Thanks!
Edit - Finally showed up on the ground elite Penguin - wasn't there last week for me And I don't know why this was never around for me in the past since its from Pandaria and Brawlers Guild and 100% Obsolete - (edited)
I was farming pet charms on multiple characters and noticed Addius WQ isn't showing for my low level toons? Is this a normal thing or is it a bug ? (edited)
Hello! ive noticed in EU Super Squirt Day happens on 7th april, but thats day when pet event battle ends (its wednesday reset) anyone knows right day for it??
//edit ive researched and seems like all mess with blizz event changes cancelled super squirt for eu, would it be possible maybe to make note or change it for some random day so people wont think its soon when it wont be?
Yeah I just recently checked the calendar and it seems it's just a bad overlap and the various squirt trackers are not working well with it. Squirt seems to be up on the 7th, but the problem is Squirt is up starting from the weekly reset, and the pet battle week technically still is active for a couple hours on the 7th, but BEFORE the weekly reset. The tracker doesn't seem to take the hours into account and only the day, which is why it shows the incorrect date.
It is currently 1:15 PM CST in the US (a few hours after the Tues. reset) and Master of Pets is not active. Love the site, please don't take this as a complaint, but you may have a bug with the active Legion WQ info in the "Leveling Opportunities" section.
Three of my six pet battle accounts were just banned for no reason.
I used to multibox pet battles. I don't use any broadcast software, hacks or Bots, I used add-ons and scroll up and scroll down on my mouse. My three new characters were standing next to Sir Galveston the pet trainer WQ in Dalaran waiting for their pet heal to come off cooldown, when they were evidently reported for cheating.
I've looked everywhere to answer this question but I can't find anything. Does anyone know of a webpage or add-on that shows which world quests offer Polished Pet Charms each day? I have thousands of bandages and lesser pet charms, so I don't want to do those quests. I only want to do the ones that offer PPC, but I feel like I miss some every day.
World Quest Tracker might be what you're looking for. There isn't one specifically for pet battles, as far as I'm aware, so it'll track all available WQs. However, they have different symbols next to the WQs to represent the rewards:
Not sure what's going on, but 11/28 does not seem to be squirt day in the US as you note. Oddly I think I've seen that calendar item shift between 11/28 and 11/30 at different times in the past few weeks. idk - but it's not squirt day today, after 10am reset
I hope they will fix these problems, I contacted a GM and he only gave me back my 1500 pets option, for the missing dungeon portals/resetted quests the only response was "I can't do anything about it" I'm super upset that it has to be like this..
My tdBattlePetScript editor does not work. Last version on Twitch is quite old and seems to be incompatible with the 9.0.1 prepatch. "Write Script" option shows up in Rematch but th eeditor does not open up. Any other idea how to attach a script to a team?
This is not a very good solution, but one thing you can do is load the team in, make sure you note the name of the strategy so you can find it, exit the game and go search the Settings file (tsBattlePetScript.lua) in the "Drive:/World of Warcraft/_retail_/WTF/Account/<ACCOUNTID>/SavedVariables" for that name and then you can paste the script in there with the same formatting as the other scripts you have saved, replace line breaks with "/n" (except you have to use the backslash, not the forward slash but I can't write that in this message because it's a banned character and gets stripped out of the message) and save it. Then relaunch the game and you should have a script for that team.
Not an ideal solution, hopefully it will not be broken for long :p
If you're not confident that you can do it without breaking stuff then I don't know of another way to do it.
Hello! I love the website and i want to engage a bit more!
But i have a problem, that i can not create an account! Is there anything i can do to make it work? When i press the Registre, it will just shade the screen and do nothing, what can i do? :-)
Hey! Sorry to hear you're having problems.
I've tested account registration just now and it worked without a problem. Can you please try it through this link?
https://www.wow-petguide.com/index.php?page=register
If it's not working, please let me know:
- What browser are you using?
- What language is the page set to when you sign up? (top right corner)
- Can you pls make a screenshot of the page you end up at? You can send that to my email [email protected]
I'll test around, very strange indeed. I'm also using FF 81.0.1 64 and have no issues :/
Will test on different machines and browsers. I'll really need to reproduce this to be able to track down any bugs.
Hey! Sorry for the trouble, it's a bug. It was never intended to show these ads.
They controlled by a company and I told them that I dont want these takeover ads. I already informed them and they promised to fix it asap.
I don't mean to complain, first off this site is amazing thank you for all the pet content. :D But the ads are making so it is impossible to navigate. Do you have a membership that would remove all the ads?
Can someone recommend an AddOn to track the enemy team's abilities and cooldowns?
I've been using PetTracker up until this point, but sadly it's been broken for a long time.
I looked everywhere and can't seem to find anything which does the same. It's really weird that such a basic thing is not in the game by default.
There is a discrepancy between the Squirt dates on the front page and the powerleveling guide page; the latter shows the Squirt date occurring one day later than the front page Squirt date. Can you please clarify and correct this so we can update our calendars?
Hey! Thanks, I'm looking into this right now. It seems the calculation on the widget here is incorrect. The guide shows the correct dates, though. I'll try to fix that now :)
Seems like the dates are one day early each time for the "Next Squirt Day" on homepage, it's one day off from the guide, not sure why, and has been one day early for the last one and the one starting tomorrow for some reason.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but is it possible for me to save all my td scripts and rematch teams and copy and paste them on another computer? I play on a PC but I also have a laptop that I play on sometimes and I'd like to be able to use my pet battle stuff on the laptop as well, in addition to just backing up all this info. Is there an easy way to sync this up with the laptop or at least copy and paste the files? Thanks!
I found the lua files and copied the rematch file into the laptop folder. The teams are all there when I launch the game! I forgot to save the td scripts lua file to my drop box because I'm a herp derp but I will get to that next. Thank you so much!
The TD Scripts prefs file should be in the same folder as the Rematch one (“SavedVariables”, path see above) — unless you explicitly and manually deleted it, or deleted it via Twitch Client. (Even if you never synced it to your DropBox folder, I want to say.)
What I would do in any case, is a regular and automated backup of the whole WTF folder. Ideally this is a versioned backup, so that you can go back if something got messed up.
I was able to put the td scripts lua file on my laptop and everything matches up now. I will look into automated backing up of the WTF folder. Thanks again :)
i put my hands foward is the first time i am on this site so i don't really understan it all
I'm here becouse my guild master talk about this site and iwant to try
so if someone could explayn me correctly what i have to do would do me a favour
From your profile. I see that you are a new battler, and hav just captured some level 10 pets. Good start!
What would you like to know?
You should do the quests for the Tamers in Kalimdor (for Horde) or Eastern Kingdoms (for Alliance) and basically keep battling and beating the tamers as soon as you can.
This site doesn't explain the low-level tamers, because they are not hard enough. If you are having problems with one, your best bet is to get an extra level or two with your pets and try again, or capture some new pets that are good against that Tamer's pets.
new battler? ok then i agree with grainne: focus on getting the main quest line done first. also have a look at the most used pets in pve and try to obtain some of those (most are buyable) -> https://www.wow-petguide.com/index.php?m=MostUsedPets
I'm having an issue logging in on the browser I normally use (Firefox, I'm using Edge to make this post). When I try to log in with my Battlenet ID on Firefox, for some reason it logs me in on my second account and not my main account. I don't get any options as to which account to choose. I'm logged in on the proper account on blizzard.net, the launcher is logged on the proper account, but this page insists on using that other account to log in, and creates a new account. Obviously, this is a problem because all my pets are on this one (the other one is just for RAF). I've deleted the cookies, cleared the cache, quit Firefox and restarted it. I've deleted that new account that gets created, and tried logging in again and it just recreates that account with that battlenet id. I'm at my wits end trying to get logged in on the proper browser. Any ideas? (I can also log in to this account with Firefox on my Mac with no problem.)
That's a really, really odd one. Usually when that happens, you are logged into the other Battle.net account *on your browser* (the battle.net app has nothing to do with this).
Just as an explanation, when you hit that "Login with Battle.net" button, Xu-Fu redirects you in the background to battle.net where it checks for authorization. If there is none, it will prompt you (you did this at the very beginning, first time you logged into Xu-Fu's). And if there is already an authorization it throws you right back to Xu-Fu letting the page know which battle.net ID it is. So whichever account is logged in on battle.net, that one will be sent back to Xu-Fu.
If you go to battle.net on Firefox and log out then into the correct account, you say this still happens?
Have you perhaps tried clearing the battle.net cookies as well?
If that doesn't work, there's one more thing you could try: go to your account security settings on Battle.net and check the connected apps on both your accounts. You'll find Xu-Fu in there. Just delete the connection both times and then log out of the battle.net website.
Then go back here and click the button. It will send you to battle.net and ask you to log in - you can then log in with the *correct* bnet account and this should bring you back here.
Sorry for this being so troublesome for you. I hope it will be solved with that but do let me know if you keep having issues!
Why can't I see the Top collections on Home page? My husband has it on the left when he opens wow-petguide.com. I don't have it anywhere. Not even if I write it in Search. :(
Just thought I'd introduce those who are unaware to the root meaning of the word that is going to hit this site when Shadowlands launches.
There are so many changes coming that a massive amount of strategies are going to need to be changed. I would like to offer the - at least temporary - solution (I'm not a mod/admin so I don't know if it has already been put forward) of adding tags back to strategies, specifically a tag to denote whether or not the strategy is viable in Shadowlands content (bearing in mind; some people may not have purchased the xpac). (edited)
Hey!
Yeah, we're aware. A tag for Shadowlands already exists and once we know more details about the exact changes coming and what will be affected, we will tag all strategies affected by it. Might be a big clean-up process that will happen with Shadowlands.
By the way, there will also be a Patch 8.3. tag appearing soon on about 200 strategies due to the changes in some weather effects.
that link for bedlam gave every possible definition except the one in the dictionary lol never knew there was so many uses for that word before. * oh note.... incase someone wants the dictionary definition .... https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bedlam
I don't know what happened but when i copy a Rematch string it always gives me the wrong pet when there are substitutes. When i have 2 possibility i have to chose to one i don't want to get the right one. Not sure how to work it out with multiple yet
Oddly, when I go to the BfA Family Battler pages, and mouse over the Undead icon... sometimes it says "Not Quite Dead Yet" and sometimes "Unstoppable Undead" (the name of the Argus version).
been having a problem for a few days with updating my pet collection. I don't see my server in the drop down list, I tried using another server and character. It updated the collection but When i try to use Magpie it doesn't recognize that I have any pets.
I know the issue isn't here as it also happens at warcraftpets as well.
I'm sorry to say, due to sudden unemployment, I've had to stop my monthly donation for the foreseeable future. I want to thank you for all the hard work and let you know I will continue to support this site again when I can.
Hey! Don't worry at all about the donation. Thank you so much for your support and donations, the page will go on and stay around. You focus on finding a positive future for yourself and I wish you all the best that you find a great new job soon!
Please stop make the page re-posting comments when reloding the page!
Learned this today: posted a comment, came back later to see if there was any feedback, reloaded the page: the page posted a copy of my comment. That was not what I wanted. I just wanted to check if my comment was posted and if there were some responses. I did not want to post a copy of my comment from 5 hours ago. And, a humble guess, I think the majority of the users are not expecting such behavior either.
Thanks, and, as said, I love your (this) site.

And your browser didn’t warn you about „sending data again“? I haven’t checked but would assume that comments are using POST, and I don’t know any browser silently sending a POST again on refresh?
Nope, it didn’t. Otherwise I wouldn’t mention it. Using current Safari on macOS, haven’t checked it with FF. Sorry for the late reply; turned out that the site had logged me out silently, so I didn’t see any notifications.
> Actually I only replied yesterday so nothing late there ;)
Yeah, seen it afterwards ;)
> and both triggered Safari to ask for confirmation..
OK. I’ll try it again with this comment reply. I’ll leave the page open and come back in a couple of hours to reload the page. (This was the scenario, IIRC. Though I’m not sure if the problematic comment was a real comment or a reply to a comment, like this one.) Anyway, I’ll report back then.
OK, have reloaded the page now (3 or 4 hours after posting) and… everything fine this time (that is, I got the confirmation dialog). So, no idea what did provoke the faulty behaviour the other day. The state of the cache? Or maybe I had some setting activated in the Develop menu that prevented the sheet from coming up? When/if it occurs again, I’ll post it here.
I'm probably missing something really basic, but when I try clicking "alternatives" at the right of the first suggested strategy, nothing happens. Have I missed a setting?
It would be nice if we wouldn’t have the limit of 990 chars in the Info box of a strat.
I’ve only posted 3 strats so far, but already run into that space problem. See my EnvBert strat with Squashling (https://www.wow-petguide.com/index.php?Strategy=4315).
In that Info box I only could squeeze-in the content by shortening many things, down to the gramatical limits, and by omitting some info. I know, I could continue in a comment in the comment section, but this doesn’t feel right. The essential infos should be in one place.
I’m also aware that 990 chars should be more than sufficient in most cases. But there are cases where more info is useful (like the above example), and unless there is a technical 990-characters-hard-limit, please give us more room. If someone really is misusing that box (what for?) you could always edit the post or/and contact the author.
I think we had a much stricter limit 2 weeks ago and I personally don't think this infobox needs more characters because it's there for SHORT creator comments to strategy basics or pet choices and IMHO not to explain every single RNG situation players can experience.
If you can reduce RNG with breed restrictions... then maybe it's better to add them to the pets and not explain what can go wrong with other breeds. Also, I don't see the need to comment on the level pets because that is something that belongs to your pet team (or Rematch strings if you like to add your specific ones).
Most people come here not to read walls of text, they look for the better-rated strategies that match their pet collections, copy&paste stuff they need to import into their addons and only come back if something goes horribly wrong and then mostly to find help in other peoples' comments who also struggled or to find a different team/strategy: I don't think many people wanna read about stuff that already happened to them, they mostly want to see solutions and it's the best way to have them in a well-optimized strategy&team already.
Be honest, does it help when I struggle with this specific strategy and then come back and find something like "if this is happening you are screwed" or "if this is happening and you want pet XP restart, otherwise you win without rewards for your level pet" in your creator comments? I don't think so.
This is not a basic forum so maybe it's better to continue with keeping things short ;-)
To me, certain character limits tend to be problematic not because of the length of actual content, but because of formatting tags and embedding taking up a lot of characters. This is something I experience on most of websites, not just this one, but the most aggravating issue over here is linking to user profiiles and other sources of strategies, which could be alleviated with internalisation of link paths and @mentions.
About the tooltips themselves… I don't have any clear conclusions one way or the other. Put an effort into it? It's ignored. Leave it alone to keep it tidy? You come out as oblivious and heartless. Same goes for strategies, a new one? Ignored on behalf of ones that took the spotlight first. And when it's actually noticed? It seems to outweigh another with 300+ flawless executions which somehow stays in the shadow. Therefore, I'm not sure one can account for every visitor upon creating the environment. :-) The cycle of (tamer) strife can be cruel, and I believe something needs to be done with it nevertheless – but sadly, enough of the philosophy, for at the moment the engineering of more basic aspects has to come first!
@Lazey, Part I (Sorry, the page freaks out when I’m trying to post my reply as one. So, I’ll try it in two steps ;) First and foremost, thanks for your reply and for your opinion. But I don’t agree with all of your points…
> I personally don't think this infobox needs more characters because it's there for SHORT creator comments to strategy basics or pet choices and IMHO not to explain every single RNG situation players can experience. IMO the part that really should be kept short and precise is the description (the steps). The Info box, I agree with you, should also be short, but if there is a need for more information, it should be dumped into the Info box. (Not into the description, not into the comments section, for two different reasons, but I think both are obvious.) Another possibilty would be to squeeze any meta info into the description before “Turn 1”. But this would be a cheap second Info box, and I don’t like the idea to abuse the form that way. > If you can reduce RNG with breed restrictions... then maybe it's better to add them to the pets and not explain what can go wrong with other breeds. I think you are referring to the Env Bert strat I have linked. Basically I agree. But you might have noticed that I already had added min power to pet #2, in order to exclude some of the substitutes. Though, I didn’t wan’t to do the same with the Blazehaound (pet #1), because I think the strat is doable also with a suboptimal breed. But maybe you are right and I should just exclude any non-P/P breeds.
@Lazey, Part II
> Also, I don't see the need to comment on the level pets because that is something that belongs to your pet team (or Rematch strings if you like to add your specific ones).
You are right here. The Rematch string is part of the Info box, and as such it should be parsed correctly. (The string that contains the correct and breed/damage-specific min health requirements). This should be enough, but, I think there are also folks that aren’t using Rematch. They also should know of the type-specific min health requirements. Unfortunatly the default forms of the page don’t offer any detailed entries for the min health. They only offer one entry (for all damage types), and I always put the worst-case min health there (for pets that are weak against the expected damage type)
> Most people come here not to read walls of text, […]
Well, I think, a “wall of of text” is not defined by the amount of characters. To create a wall of text you need two things: lots of characters, and lots of missing line breaks / paragraphs. I’m completely aware of that, and I’m always trying to section and format my texts in a manner that makes it usable for readers ;) I think the limit of 990 chars is not contributing to avoid walls of text. (It’s easy to build a a wall of text with only 500 chars, but I think you got what I mean…)
> Be honest, does it help when I struggle with this specific strategy and then come back and find something like "if this is happening you are screwed" or "if this is happening and you want pet XP restart, otherwise you win without rewards for your level pet" in your creator comments? I don't think so.
Good question. Me personally, when I use a new strat from somebody else, I always read thru the strat, and in the case I really need to level some pet, I then (likely) exclude strats that are mentioning things like “RNG”, “risk”, etc. But: I’m always happy (when using a new strat) when I see some detailed infos, so that I can estimate what is going to happen. But YMMV.
I am a simple pet battler looking to up my rotation.
Currently I just do the garrison daily and the gnomeregan daily. As well as the pet battles from the two islands. What is the next step for me in pet battling?
A lot depends on your roster - what pets you currently have, at what levels, and what breeds. More pets, fully levelled and made Blue, of the right breeds, makes everything easier. Since you haven't linked to a WoW character here, I can't see that, and it's hard to make specific suggestions.
The general directions of development people pursue are:
1. Collecting. Some people collect pets with not a lot of regard for their battling capabilities. However, since some pets are achieved only by battling, for example Wicker Wraith and Stunted Direhorn, even collectors need to pay some attantion to battling.
2. Achieving. There are many pet battling achievements in game, and following the natural trail through the Taming [Continent] achievements up to Pandaria, and then on to the Spirit Tamers, Beasts of Fable and the Celestial Tournament was an epic journey for me and for many others. It's well worth doing. The Celestial Tournament is still, IMO, the pinnacle of PvE pet battling. However, WoD and Legion and BfA have added more battling achievements.
3. Roster development. Distinct from collecting, this is finding the right pets for your toolbox in the right breeds and levelling and if necessary making them Rare with stones, so that you have the right specialist pet for any possible challenge.
4. PvP. Only a small minority of pet battlers spend a lot of time in PvP, but those who do really enjoy it.
Apart from Xu-Fu's here, you can read and join resources like the official Blizzard forums for pet battles, WarcraftPets.com website, or the WarcraftPets Discord, where like-minded addic.... er, battlers ... and more than delighted to answer any questions you might have.
Please ask again if you have any more specific questions!
Only really to expand on Gráinne's comment as regards the 'collecting' and 'roster development' sections - which are, as said 'distinct' although they are intrinsically linked - I would like to point you in the direction of the in-game Achievements > Battle Pets > Collect tab. There are a series of achievements called Raiding With Leashes, pretty much all of which can be completed via the auction house - if you have the gold/inclination - or by completing old raids.
In this content-starved expansion (and it is, it's making people want to do pet battling, isn't it? XD), it's been some small relief to run (short) old content knowing there's a possibility of a worthwhile reward beyond the vague chance of some 75kG pants dropping.
Thanks so much for the replies. I think I am somewhat of a collector/roster builder. I go around doing the dailies but I also like buying pets just for their looks. I watched hazelnutty on youtube last night. I think I will focus on doing the expeditions when I have time to get all the pets that come from that. Then I will go back and do old raids like Eekwibble suggested.
Love the site, and I want to thank you all for your hard work.
I can't seem donate. I just get a page that takes me straight to pay pal, but no option to donate
Getting this error message this morning trying to use the site.."Creating a database connection failed. This is a known issue and is happening due to increased load at the time. Please reload the page to try again. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Yes. As the message says, this is a known issue and due to increased load. It is being looked at, and has been explained in the Discord, but won't go away in the very short term.
Please allow us to post code (or literal strings) as it should be. Would have been useful in my last example. Just to say it.
BTW: I tried to add the line above to my last post, and it was refused. As a new comment, obviously, it works. Something on this site is very fishy. Don’t get me wrong, your site is performing better than 85% of the whole internet, but there are still errors. And some of them are … a bit annoying.
That's because the page is a hobby project by one person who is not a professional web developer or programmer at all. Many of the quirks won't be worked on as long as there are bigger topics open. You can read through the list of tasks and bugs in the devnotes:
https://www.wow-petguide.com/index.php?m=DevLog
Regarding the versions, I don't really want to do that right now. There's already a mention of the last update time (use the downwards arrow on a strategy below the pets to open additional details)
> That's because the page is a hobby project by one person who is not a professional web developer or programmer at all.
OK, sorry for my complaints then. Regarding the really good overall design of the site, I indeed thought that there were professional web developers envolved, and the little glitches were oversights.
Sorry again. I’ll shut up now ;-)
And thanks for the site!
Hey no worries :-) Hope I didn't come across as unappreciative. Feedback is good! And that you had this impression is actually a compliment, thank you very much! No need to keep silent about issues when there are issues, I just tried to explain how they came to be and why it takes so long to get stuff fixed.
Very recently an actual, professional developer has joined me and is helping out a ton, so things might become a lot better soon!
There seems to be a parsing error in the site’s script:
Input via posting form:
`Immolate / [ spell=Flame Jet] until won or your pet dies. In the latter case clean up with your starting pets, which should be at pretty good health.`
Output (as displayed):
Immolate / [ spell=Flame Jet] until won or your pet dies. In the latter case clean up with your starting pets, which should be at pretty good health.
As you see the second spell is not interpreted (displayed) properly. It is displayed in its tag form (source form) instead.
Right now I’m in the middle of that dungeon (and I have done already several runs since 8.1) and I find that this dungeon is underwhelming.
It seems the way to go with at least two thirds of the battles is using an absorbent pet (Emperor and the like). There are only some battles that require some creativity (the Rat and the final one, for example).
For my taste this is pretty poor design. Going thru the most part of the dungeon with an absorbent pet (Emperor Crab, e.g.) is time-consuming and just plain annoying.
They had chances to script some interesting battles, requiring creativity (like in the final battle). No clue why they failed. (As they did with the designs of many WQs, dungeons and other stuff in 8.0/8.1) Negligence? Incapacity?
This was critics, not a rant. (Maybe except the very last part ;)
They seem to have expected some things, though, see adding pets with aquatic damage (gun and ooze) aswell as a resistant cockroach to stop us from cheesing everything with elementals. Yet, a fact their damage output is low combined with shields not checking for racial damage means this mechanic prevents a lot as you mentioned. The last boss has got an ability to remove basic shields so perhaps that was not in oblivion either… unlike the reactive damage. Also, an ability that forces swap altogether with an ability which prevents from being swapped, including critters? I can't say I like it. /shrug
It seems Blizz made the AI scripts a bit more intelligent with 8.1 (more variations of moves, and checks for some non-sensical moves, e.g. heals right at the start).
In consequence many of the posted strats are outdated.
Of course I will not downvote a strat, if I see that the AI script is no longer the same. But this is no solution. Many people will come here, without knowledge of the old AI scripts, and I guess they will just downvote strats that don’t work (non-regarding the date).
You could make available a tag (e.g. "8.1"), that the owner of a posted strat can add to his strat, once he has tested it with the new conditions. This way it would be clear to the user if the strat is up-to-date.
Or, maybe even better, just apply a tag “pre-8.1” to any strat that hasn’t been updated. Give the creator of the strat the right ro remove that tag.
The different text fields use different BB code implementations currently. The one for comments doesn’t support links. It should auto-link though. Another quirk is sometimes it being skill, sometimes spell for the abilities.
Unifying all these variations is on some todo list, I’m sure.
I’m unable to post responses to other responses. My post is just ignored (no error message, just not displayed; tried it with differently delayed/timed page reloads and reposts). Going a level up (posting it as general response) works. I experienced this on at least two pages. Would be nice if you could fix it, because it breaks the communication as it is now. Thanks
PS: This issue seems to be new. IIRC I never had those problems in the past.
Thanks for fixing. My respond attempts from the last days now have magically appeared. Some of them twice or three times, since I had tried to post several times ;-)
Squirt and repeatable Legion Tamers, if they are up (my order of the best options: Squirt > Odrogg > Galveston > Bodhi > Tiffany > Robert > Andurs > Xorvasc > Grixis > Jarrun > Amalia > Aulier > Varenne > Merayl > Bredda) and the daily round through MoP and WoD tamer quests.
I love this website, and use it almost every day. Thanks so much for putting it together, and for everyone who contributes. Are we going to get XP tables for the BfA battles like the ones we had for the legion fights? I think it would be very helpful...
is there a problem with w/e blizzard database this site uses? I have tried a few times to update my collection and it keeps throwing an error. something about not having/using a valid game character, tried both while in-game and after exiting the game.
Not sure what's happening but I've been having trouble getting the site to load. Most of Tue evening (Oct 30) and a short while today was getting the following error: "Warning: mysqli_connect(): (HY000/1203): User db426045_9 already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /kunden/426045_85652/webseiten/Petguide/data/dbconnect.php on line 2
Could not connect: 1203 - User db426045_9 already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections". Never had this before a couple days ago. Figured I'd let you know. I use Chrome on Win7 64bit and I did try clearing cache, etc but didn't help. Problem seems random from my side of things.
I have been having this issue also on several different browsers on different platforms. I adore this website and want to see it stay add free and not become what wowhead did. I ti shte 1st site I've ever considered donating to. What's the issue? Need more bandwidth? Let you loyal fans know so that we can help!
It's not a very good search function right now, it is only redirecting if there's something directly related to what you typed. If you look for "XuFu", it won't work, but If you search for "Xu-Fu" it will redirect you to the strategy page.
Hope that helps!
Attempting to add a strat to the Chopped wq and the page has thrown a wobbler. It's cut off the bottom of the strat, I can't add any more lines, and all the tabs have disappeared, including the tab for the alternate strats.
Many thanks for all the work you've put into this site, Aranesh! I have had countless hours of fun doing pet battles because of the strategies shared here. I doubt I could have finished the Celestial Tournament rounds without help from here!
Here's to a lot more fun in BfA, and don't forget to show our support by clicking on the Donate button! (Btw, Aranesh, the redirect from Paypal after donating landed in a page not found.)
To the Team here:
First I want to thank you for the continued development and implementation of the tools you have created for everyone here. I love coming back to see all the wonderful shiny implementations you are doing, and the fact that people can log in, vote and upscale various posts and strategies. Seeing buttons like "RNG" and "Breed" are such a wonderful addition. And frankly because I am a 'casual' gamer, this site has saved me HOURS of trying out my (failed) strategies and use other people's Pet Loving strats. It has made me somewhat enjoy the new twists that Blizzard has created with various pet battles, and definitely enhances my gaming experience as a avid pet collector.
Thank you for ALL your hard work.
Thank you for sharing the Pet Love.
~LSW
Everything is great, but I wanted to comment on one quick issue that has come up with your new updates to pet battle pages. Before, you could scroll over the alternative teams for a fight and see any notes. Now you cannot, which is a pain for the Kura/Erris fight in the pet menagerie. I now have to click through each alternative until I find the one for the right team. While I appreciate that it shows you what pets are used in the alternative strategies without having to click through them, it would be nice to be able to see the notes about them without having to click on the alternative.
Other than that, your site is great and I really appreciate all the hard work you put into it. Thank you for what you do on here!
I just joined today to be able to say Thank You Very Much for your site and efforts of those who contributed strategies and comments. I ignored pet battling since its inception but Legion finally got me curious. With this site, I managed to complete Family Familiar! I feel so fortunate to have found so much information in the easiest to use appearance. Gratitude to all who helped.
I wanted to say thank you to Aranesh, the development team, and all the kind contributors at Xu Fu for these amazing strategies. Pet battling became so complicated and frustrating solo. There is no way I could have accomplished what I did without your efforts.
It saddens me that people such as yourselves, who receive no money for your work, have done more for my success in WoW pet ventures than the Blizzard company itself. Blizzard takes in $12-15 US each month, and has received hundreds of dollars from me over the years. Yet after years of financial and personal commitment to their products, Blizzard cares nothing about my success in their world, particularly when it comes to pet battles and pet collections. Low drop rates, unspoken pet spawning times, and useless customer service help ticket responses pushed me away from the game. If Blizzard had even 20% of the passion for WoW fans that Xu Fu staff demonstrates, I might have stayed. They do not, and I doubt they ever will. As a result of this, I am leaving WoW with no plans to return.
Xu Fu was one of the pest parts of my WoW journey. You all listened to the community, took feedback under advisement, and constantly sought to improve both the user interface and site content. You linked with other sites and we're not threatened by criticism. Cheers to you, Aranesh, and all the other staff. All the best to you in your current and future ventures. Thank you.
I was very moved by your words, and it took me a while to find the right words. I hope I found them now: Thank you. Thank you for your immense praise towards me and all Xu-Fu contributors. You are right, passion for WoW and all its pets is the driving force behind this page.
Your words for Blizzard are quite harsh, and I do not intend to defend them, that's not my place and not my task ^^ I met a number of their employees over time, and for those individuals, I can vouch that their passion for this game is at least equal to my own.
If that were not the case, most likely I would not invest my own passion into this project myself.
Be that how it may, I am glad to have been part of the positive side for you, and wish you also all the best for yourself!
This site used to be mobile friendly... now its just no menu or any navigation on the top anymore. So, I'll have to alt+tab out to look at guides for now.
Hey Kuuro!
The page was never designed for mobile :S Just recently I edited the menu to be more mobile friendly. You should see a "Menu" button that expands into the actual menu when tapping on it.
Can you please tell me what device you are using?
Minor addition suggestion though: Since the site has my pet collection info AND needed pets/levels for strategies, I'd love if it suggested which pets I should level, increase quality of and/or obtain next based on which is used the most in strategies.
Like just from my browsing, it seems the recommended pet for me to obtain would be the Zandalari Anklebiter.
That will come. Not too soon I'm afraid. The collection import is quite young and was the last big feature I added. Next up the battle tables will use it as well and show you which strategy you have the pets for and which not. Your suggestion will come afterwards :-)
I only came across this site in legion, but I wanted to say a massive thank you! Your site is amazing and thanks to your info, I have been able to get my family familiar and family fighter achievements. Highly recommend!

Found a cool macro so you never forget to put on your pet safari hat when in pet battles.
/use safari hat
/click CollectionsMicroButton
/click CollectionsJournalTab2
using the macro would still require using your memory... easier just to put the safari hat on an action bar so that it is there on your screen. (just my opinion)
I just recently stumbled upon this site and I'm legitimately miserable that I didn't know about it sooner. I normally just default to WoWhead, but not anymore! I love this site so much. It's so crisp and clean and well put together. There's so much love put into this site it really makes me happy! Thank you to everyone who put so much into it. I hope I have the funds to donate one day to help support it. You guys deserve all that and more!
- Sincerely; a super appreciative user :P
I really like the upvote option for posts. It should save a lot of, "Me, too" and "You're right" posts (yep, I'm as guilty as anyone). I'm wondering however, if you've considered offering the option to upvote the Strategy Alternatives themselves. Most of the strategies have worked wonderfully for me, and I'd like to share that with other site users without cluttering up things with a "worked well" post. Now, I'm sure that you don't need any more projects on your plate, but it's something that popped into my mind and thought I'd throw it out there. Loving the new site more each day. Thanks again for all of your hard work.
In fact, votes for the individual strategies are already on the roadmap :D There's a few smaller things I want to get done before that. The next update (pretty soon, I'm more than halfway done with that) will add the legion ready checker functionality to all pages. When you are logged in and go to any section, the tables there will automatically check against your collection and tell you what pets you're missing. After that I will do some really smaller stuff, but then I want to rework the battle tables to include more info. Mainly what breeds are required, what pets the enemy has, upvote option (^^) and some more stuff.
Love the new features. The upvote thing especially. =D one thing though - when a new comment it posted it seems to upvote it automatically. While I AM always right - it feels kinda weird having that happen. =P <3 keep up the great work fellow battlers and collectors. =)
Hey thanks a lot ! :D
The initial upvote is intended, it's your own! I went with the assumption that you (as the poster of a comment) are indeed right, and would of course upvote your own comment. Wouldn't have posted it otherwise, right? ^^
I just read another user's post about donations vs. advertisements, and I'm wondering if it would it be possible to put your "Donate" button in the header of your site as part of the menu? If folks arrive here from a search engine and land on the tamers' pages or in another area of the site, they won't see the button unless they go exploring and happen upon the homepage.
In the header/menu, It would be more visible and easily accessible, but I don't think that most of us would find it obtrusive or offensive. Most of us understand that it takes money as well as an incredible amount of time to support a website, especially one as diverse and dynamic as Xu-Fu's Pet Guide. Just my two-coppers' worth.
Thank you for a great site catering to all of us pet-battle lovers. Looking forward to Xu-Fu 2.0!
Hey Kathleene!
Thank you so much for your encouraging words :-)
I'm having a lot of fun working on Xu-Fu and the little ad at the bottom is covering the server costs, there's no direct need in making some profit or putting the donation button on a more prominent place. But you're right of course, it would be way more effective on the top menu or somewhere visible from everywhere.
Something to consider later on, and I do have a couple of ideas ;-)
Hey! That shouldn't happen with [email protected] :O
Are you trying this email address? You can also message me on Facebook or Twitter if you have that.
A possible idea for the site... I do like the basic common-pet strategies, but I'd also like to see alternative strats that cater more to leveling and/or speed. I was thinking perhaps your format would work well for this, with tags added - how reliable users found it, average number of rounds, useful for leveling or not, requires rare pets... that kind of thing.
Nonetheless, I do very much appreciate this site :)
Thanks for your comment :-) It's a very good idea. Something similar to this is on my feature plan already but I like the idea of tags. There are many things that need to be done first, though. It will take a good while before I can jump onto this. In time it will come :-)
Thank you so much for this site. I've only been battling since November last year (9 months-ish) and this site has been invaluable. I've collected 861 pets, to date, 606 of which are unique, and completed tens of thousands of battles. That's quite some achievement for someone who spent 3 expansions decrying the entire concept.
I've tried to add helpful strats in the comment sections where I can, for the benefit of people without the recommended pets or where I think I've found a simpler or more productive (i.e. lvl pet strats for Fam Fam) way to complete battles. I hope my sometimes lengthy posts aren't too annoying.
Well done, it's a fabulous resource and I hope it continues to flourish.
Hey :)
That's a great story and I'm happy you found your way into pet battling! It can be intimidating or boring at first, I felt the same when I started with it, but once you get the idea and the pace of it, it's a fantastic and by now really huge side-part of WoW.
I'm really glad we could help you and please don't stop posting additional info or strategies! It's what keeps the page alive! :-)
Do you think you could create a tab for the 2 darkroom trainers for pet leveling? I have been trying different comps but haven't found a leveling start ye
Just want to say a huge thankyou.
In Pandaria a failed miserably with all the boss fights and threw in the towel.
I accidentally entered the celestial tournament 6 weeks ago and had no idea what it was or what I was doing.
Then, because I thought Xu-Fu was super cute, I googled him, which is how I found your guide.
I travelled the world, found your recommended pets, started doing dailies, went back to my garrison and started doing the rounds of trainers there. Levelled up most of the pets on your list. Bought a couple. Discovered a plushie and a new achievement.
Now I am proud owner of Trunks, Xu-Fu, Chi Chi and Stardust Bunny. I could not in a million years have done it without you and in some cases your comment section if I was missing a pet. Just 6 more weeks of tourney, which will be a piece of cake now Plushie is booted off the team. And family familiar well on the way.
Hey Aelfraed! Thank you for leaving such a beautiful comment :-) I'm very happy to hear that I could make a difference for you and get you to enjoy pet battles so much more. Congratulations on your little celestials!
Thank you so much! You are my go to guys to get information on pet battles. Just finished the Celestial Tournament successfully on the first go thanks to your personalized strategy guides. Super useful!
Is there any viable substitute for the Droplet of Y'shaarj? I can't find any on the AH, and have been farming the raid for it, but so far nothing. It's pretty much the last pet I need from your family familiar list (Thank you VERY much for that and the ready checker - they're awesome).
Sadly the Droplet has a rather unique set of abilities. But if it's just that one pet, check which fight it is used for (hover over the green paw). It is very likely this fight also lists a couple of alternatives that you can use instead :-)
I don't have it either and was able to get the Family Familiar achieve without it, largely thanks to this fantastic guide. Someday I hope to have it too but with these strats the meta-achieve was entirely possible! GL
It's currently a very simple script that checks for a search result. If there is no search result (maybe because of a typo), it doesn't do anything. It's on my list to create a proper search engine at a later time :-)
First, if you don't already have it, get the Rematch addon https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/rematch and open up your Pet Journal, you should see the new options that Rematch added at the bottom right. Choose the 'Teams' tab from these.
Click the '+' on the left hand side to create a new tab for your team and name it appropriately (or just use the 'General' tab). Now head back here and use the 'Rematch string' button on your favoured fight to copy the team text.
Back in the Pet Journal Right-click the whichever team button on the right hand side you want to add the team to and select 'Import Teams' from the menu that appears. Press CTRL-V to paste the team data into the box and hit the Save button.
** If the levelling pet slot has level requirements, i.e. Level 10+, just Right-click the blue up arrow in your team, within the team column and select 'Team Preferences' from the menu. Just fill in the appropriate information and you're done**
Love your guide. Can you add the mobs/boss picture, class and attacks. sometimes i am missing just 1 pet and would love to pair it up the mobs weekness.
Hey :) Thanks for the suggestion! It's sadly not very easily done. Just displaying it there would be easy, I could have a script add the name up there, but if you then save this link and open it at a later time, the page also needs to read this information and interpret it correctly. That's where it becomes tricky, because right now every fight has an ID that is unique. If it were a name, say for example "Amalia", the page would only read Amalia, but there are 15 different sections with Amalia (world quests, family familiar, falcosaurs). Which one is the correct?
Then there's the problem with special characters and spaces, these would need to be removed in a unique way because title headers don't like them. And not even starting to speak about other languages. The names are sometimes very different there and use other characters that are not readable by an address line at all.
I'm not trying to make up excuses here! It's something I would love to do because it would make navigating the page much easier, and I'm a big supporter of ease of access. I'm just trying to explain why it is so complicated and why I haven't tackled it, yet.
omnomnomicon, I'm thinking you did not notice every page I have opened from the Menu on the right to go to a specific battle has had a clickable title starting with the word "vs" that takes you to the page on WowHead for that battle. In addition, to the right of that title is a magnifying glass icon that you can hover over to see the map showing the location of the battle. I have not visited all the pages so I cannot say that information is on every page but I bet if it isn't, it will eventually be. I can say that I think that is sufficient information to find everything you might want to know about that Tamer and gives you access to more information if you need it. Considering the volume of work this site represents and the wealth of information it gives I think that should be sufficient, don't you?
Oh, the tamer info is thorough and amazing. I just want to be able to take advantage of my browser's history to quickly get back to the pages if I've forgotten the play by play instructions for a particular fight. As it stands, the title for every page is 'Xu-Fu's Pet Battle Strategies". If it was "Xu-Fu's Pet Battle Strategies for Nameless Mystic' or for Pandaria Tamers or whatever the page was., it'd show up in auto-complete, or be more obvious as a bookmark (and probably raise the site's visibility in terms of SEO)
Indeed :) I think I misunderstood you at first - if it's only the page title (not the actual link), then I completely agree. I need to work on this, improve the localization and ideally also make these titles individual.
Am I missing something obvious regarding the Sprite Darter Hatchling. Your philosophy is to use only easily obtainable pets. I don't have this one, but when I checked AH this one is quite pricy. At least, I consider 40k for a pet high. I checked wowhead to see how to obtain it and it seems its an extremely rare zone drop.
The Sprite Darter has a bit of a history with me :-) I myself got it very early when it was still an alliance-only quest reward. That made it very easy to obtain, but that was long before pet battles where in the game.
When I started putting these guides together I was not nearly as knowledgeable and just used the pets I had. And for some strategies the Sprite Darter is simply better than the Nether Faerie Dragon because it only has one breed.
It is indeed a very rare pet now, so it should not be in any of the main strategies, but because of this history you will still find it in some alternatives.
I suspected something like this, since your "about us" page lists this as one of the first 3 pets used. :) Guess its like my Emperor crab. First pet I actively used for quests, so now I try with him first on any new battle.
Hatchling is listed in 2 of the legion wqs, and its the only pet missing on my Legion ready checker (WQ version) so I just got curious.
There is currently a rather easy replacement for the Sprite darter: The Nether Faerie Dragon, that you can grab battling with them. They spawn around the Dire Maul and south of it area in Feralas. There are 5 breeds, of which 3 you might aim to get.
Many sites get people always asking for something but never / hardly ever saying thank you. I started doing my pets awhile back, not a dungeon person and pvp is messed up and was banging my head against the wall in battles. A friend of mine turn me onto your web site and I can't be any happier.
I want to give a big THANK YOU to all of you working, participating and helping on this site. I have less head aches and a lot more fun with my pets now. :)
Thank you so much for all the time and effort it must have taken to create this vast collection of infos and strategies! They have proven to be invaluable and make everything concerning pet battles so much easier :) Thank you!
Thank you so very much for the time and effort all of you spend in creating and maintaining this site. It has been absolutely the best place to make it through pet battling in the game. Many, many, many thanks!!!!
I see that each Trainer tactic has a "Rematch String" button to copy the string to clipboard and paste in the Rematch addon ingame. Is there addon / assist to display the Turn-by-turn tactics ingame?
Thank you for your work. However, I have a question - I don't see any shop/TGC/raid drop/achievement alternatives, is that on purpose or are they just not that good?
It's indeed on purpose. I focus on listing strategies that don't require real money or that are very hard to get, even though some of those pets are exceptionally good :-)
I see. Well then, I would like to offer three points for re-consideration :)
- many of us are also collectors, and we have the pets anyway
- thanks to WoW Token and battle.net balance, it is possible to buy shop items for gold
- TGC pets are a very good, if not the only, way to protect gold from inflation
I would at least like to see "What can you get from AH" list. :)
Adding to this, some time this year I will release a new version of the page that will allow users to upload their own strategies directly to the page. That will open up all pets and I'm sure the more exotic ones will find their place then as well.
This is also the main reason I am not uploading many new strategies currently.
Love your site, it has helped me with many of my pet battles. Was wondering if there is a guide yet for the new pet battle challenge in Wailing Caverns? I looked but didn't see it listed and could sure use some help.
Thanks, will have it opened as I work my way through. Thanks to your site I finally got my Falcosaur finished and am now working on Family Familiar. While I have one of my lowbie Horde toons parked in front of Crysa attempting to get the Albino Buzzard. I may add my set for that at some point :)
Is there any chance you guys could add guides for the falcosaurs questlines? Sometimes it requires you to beat wqs with falcosaur + 2 of ex undead, etc. and it's kinda hard for pets battle newbies like me :P
Hiya, just wanted to drop a note that, thanks to this site and amazing guides, I got the Celestial Tournament done and am nearly done with the Family Familiar, but in a week's time... None of the trainers had popped :(
Thanks for the guides and keep up the good work!
P.S. Is there also going to be a guide for the new Wailing Caverns pet dungeon ? :>
Sounds like Angelyne would like a list of the individual pets in the trainer/WQ battles. Ex: Nightwatcher Merayl's pets are Breezy Book, Helpful Spirit, and Delicate Moth. You don't have these explicitly listed anywhere (although usually the 2nd and 3rd pets of a fight are mentioned when they "swap in"), nor do you have their skill sets listed. In fact some battles are only vs 1 or 2 pets rather than a team of 3, and this isn't even immediately apparent on this site. Nor are unusual enemy team buffs, which I expect will become more prevalent in the upcoming dungeons. I would imagine this would be handy info for folks who want to try vastly different strategies on their own, particularly if they can't immediately test in game and want to scribble some ideas down ahead of time?
I personally am great with the as-is site, so please take all this constructively :)
I do :-)
And if that is what was asked here, I have it on my to do list. Quite recently I imported all NPC pets into my database. When mouse-hovering over their names in any strategy, you will notice that there are now tooltips for those pets.
I am also in the process of adding to the trainers which pets they have, but I have a couple of other things I want to do before I make an interface for this.
I just wanted to say thank you for all of the hard work that goes into this page. I use it daily and I pass on this page to other wow players I know.(edited)
You should really have a section for the Falcosaur Team Rumble Pet Battle quest where they have to defeat 3 Pet Battle World Quests with the Falcosaur in question and 2 other pets of other breeds...
Thanks so much for such an amazing resource! I have continued to enjoy it regularly since it's creation. Good to know others enjoy pet battling as much as I do. :)
Do you have any plans to update for the new Pet Battle Dungeon? It looks to be similar to the Celestial Tournament and you guys did a great job on that guide!!
Hey Xariah! Thank you very much :-)
And yes of course, I'm already working on it. So far the pet battle dungeon is not as challenging as the Celestial Tournament though, and I probably won't create a full planning tool for it for that reason.
Thank you for creating and maintaining this site! I finally got my Nightmare Treant tonight and I wanted to drop you a note letting you know how much help this resource has been to me since I went from casual collector to full blown battle pet addict in WoD. I recommend this site to all of my pet collecting friends and you have helped more then one of them just starting out to feel a little less overwhelmed. Keep up the amazing work!
@Aranesh, @Saintgabrial, and @Nyari, and all the other strategy submitters. I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for your efforts on this site. I just finished my family familiar achievement, which is largely thanks to your site helping me figure out what pets I needed to level up, I was so lost before, everything was overwhelming. Now thanks to this site, I have sooooo many wonderful and useful pets and almost all the pet achievements as well. Keep up the amazing work! ~Frog
Hey Sydni! Thanks for the feedback :)
I'm not sure what exactly you'd be looking for though. Do you want the tamer name displayed along side the world quest? My logic was to put the world quest name there, because it's the one shown on the map and the quest overview. You only see the tamer name when you're right in front of them. I don't know if the tamer name is really that important to have in the menu list then.
In regards to help, I could always need more help ^^ But you'd have to have fun doing it! Do you have something in mind what you would like to do? Drop me a mail if you're still interested!
Just wanted to drop a quick note to give you a big THANK YOU! for this site. :) I've been able to make a lot of progress in my pet battling adventures thanks to the easy to follow guides you have put together. Not needing a specific breed for a strategy is great, and now I know I have all the pets I need for the Celestial Tournament (just gotta get a couple of them leveled). Thanks again, and keep up the good work! :)
Hey :) You can do that by copy pasting the table. I don't intend to put them into the notes automatically though, because the strategies are being worked on and improved often.
Hello everyone. I just wanted to respond to this one as I use the rematch strings often and find that the control commands work just fine - once i have clicked the rematch string button on this site, i head into Wow, open up the pet journal, select the teams tab and import, then Ctrl V to paste. Works every time! Also i do the same with the notes, but manually Ctrl C and paste. Hope this works for you.
Thank you to everyone who has built this site it has saved me hours of trial and error and whenever i get stuck i come here. brilliant work :)
please email me when you are ready to do the PVP section, i would be happy to contribute.
After searching Wowhead and numerous other websites, this site has the most complete, user friendly, and tested Battle Pet strats on the web. Please keep up the great work. You guys have helped me so much with pet battles.
As somebody fairly new to pet battling (a rather new addiction for me!) it would be beneficial to have a "essential pets" guide, or something similar. Right now I'm just at the point where I've leveled up one of each type of pet, but what I'm finding is that I've made some pretty poor choices in what I've leveled. Anyway, this site is a godsend, keep up the good work!
I see that within individual guides you have "Occurrences" of pets, which I assume is how many times that pet is used in that particular guide. Is there a listing, perhaps, of all pets available on this site that I'm missing somewhere... that maybe will list occurrences on a "global" level?
http://www.warcraftpets.com/ Breanni has that site with every pet in the game, where to get them etc. but not a strategy guide like this. Maybe this site will have something like it eventually but I cant speak for this sites owner. IMO the two sites go hand in hand.
I did an addup of counts where pets are used in the primary strat, excluding Family Familiar, in the WarcraftPets.com forum. I think at least the top 15-20 are essentials.
I'm a little surprised that Bone Serpent and Blighted Squirrel aren't in there anywhere. Maybe I should popularise some strats for them. :) Bone Serpent is infamous in PvP, but can plug a lot of holes in PvE teams as well. OTOH, when you are trying to make a repeatable strat, you really would prefer to avoid introducing a 10% miss chance with Darkness. And Ikky's Black Claw/Flock covers the same ground as the Squirrel's Woodchipper/Stampede combo.
I'm also a little surprised to see Chrominius still so dominant, now that his partner in crime, the Pandaren Water Spirit, is reduced to a shadow of its former self. But that Howl -> Surge of Power combo still nukes just fine.
Breeds. If you say to me "Hey, I'm off to get one of these pets. Which breed should I pick up?" my first answers would be:
"Any Moth" - I love Yellow Moth P/P, White Moth H/H, and Gilded Moth H/P
"Any Rabbit" - any S/S that has 357 speed at level 25, like Spring Rabbit S/S or Alpine Hare S/S
"Any Snail" - my personal go-to is Shimmershell Snail H/P, but they all work fine. I note that Shimmershell and Silkbead Snails are also listed separately, but they're all snails.
Emperor Crab P/P
Emerald Proto-Whelp P/P
Iron Starlette - I want to say H/H, and I want to say P/P, and I want to say P/S. I don't know which to pick. They all work pretty much the same way.
Kun-Lai Runt P/P or P/B
Nether Faerie Dragon S/S, but pick up a P/P as well while you're there. You'll find a use for it later.
Scourged Whelpling H/H
Unborn Val'kyr - both breeds are good. I slightly prefer H/H, but either will do.
Nexus Whelpling P/P
Zandalaris - go for Power. P/P or P/B.
As you can see, most of the time the most extreme breeds are preferable because they gather the greatest bonus, but there are also cases of "overkills" or the preferred breed unavailable.
Machista, I know Aranesh has said before that he doesn't do enough PvP to write knowledgeably, and keep up with the changing meta.
I recommend Discodoggy as a source of ideas. He has a YouTube channel under that name, and a list of his battles at http://pvppetbattles.com/daily-battle/ He did a two-part video under the title "The Very Best" Oct 24 and 25 2016 showing him playing his strongest teams. You might get ideas from that.
However, the key to winning PvP battles lies in predicting what your opponent is going to do. Your opponent has a Valk, so you expect him to want to lead with that and Haunt. But you have a rabbit, so you can get two rounds of Flurries off, and a Burrow, before the Valk can touch you. But he sees you have a rabbit, so maybe he doesn't start with the Valk. Like that.
I started a friend off into PvP and advised him to stick to very strong, straightforward pets that he knew and understood rather than trying to double-think all the tricky dodgers and swappers and blinders. At the start, you should not worry about winning; just get used to the matches and the timers, and focus on predicting your opponent's moves. He took an Iron Starlette, Bone Serpent, and Nexus Whelpling out, and did pretty well. Remember, you should expect to lose at least half of the time.
With the end of the reign of terror of Graves and the Evil Undead (feat. MPD), lots of pets are viable now, so you are not locked into using the top half-dozen.
Hey there, I am SO glad I found your site. I have been out of WoW since fairly early in WoD and just came back into Legion. Saddened to see that my Rematch had lost all my saved teams and most of the new teams I was finding were including some rare and hard to get pets. Then I found your site!
Oh thank heavens! What a relief, had all of my old teams or at least close enough that it was second nature to pick up where I left off in terms of knowing what I was doing!!
I REALLY appreciate the rematch import links, that is clutch when it comes to making teams. Which leads me into a question/suggestion. What add-ons do you suggest, and it would be nice to have a section dedicated to that on your webpage.
About Addons, I consider
Rematch Battle Pet Breed ID Pet Tracker essential for everyone.
I use Battle Pet Binds, which gives you keybinds for all functions in a battle, but that's a matter of taste. I do admit I have sometimes pressed the wrong button, so that's a downside. ;)
Derangement’s Pet Battle Cooldowns is useful for PvE, though Pet Tracker's display will probably be enough for you. However, I consider it essential for PvP, to keep an eye on the CDs of pets in the backline.
While you are doing Family Familiar, the addon Family Familiar Helper is small and very convenient.
Somebody really, really, really needs to write an addon that creates a save-able/paste-able log of every battle.
I was already using Rematch, and Pet Tracker. I'll give the other two a shot. Generally I don't care to much about breed, but when it comes to doing the Family Familiar, it might be handy to have the right ones. I'm pretty close as it is. Just need to snag about a dozen new pets and then do some levelling, but that's cake in Pandaland
Would be nice to have a Xu-Fu add-on. But why bother when Rematch has it all!
@Gráinne Thank you! I didnt know Derangement’s Pet Battle Cooldowns and it's great.
Just a tip: if you use elvUI like me you'll have to turn off battlepet skin in elvUI config (/ec > skins > battlepet) because they don't work together making the buttons overlap.
Hey TheRenegade! I'm really happy you like the page and find things useful to you!
A section for useful addons is something I want to do, just need to find the time. It will however be pretty much exactly what Gráinne suggested. Those are the most useful and common addons for pet battlers around.
Battle Pet Daily Tamer To track the Pet Dailies I do. Puts a Green or Blue paw on the map and when I'm done with that tamer the paw goes away til the next day.
BattlePetCount Best one I found to let me see level, rarity and how many pets I currently have while highlighting them out in the world, during Pet Battles, shops and inventories.
FamilyFamiliarHelper This add-on's purpose is to make it easier to see at a glance which pet family has not been used for each tamer for the Family Familiar battle pet achievement.
Also it will open the window for this tracker only if the pet battle your doing is a part of the Family Familiar. So it'll remind you and keep track of the families you've done already.
PetBattleTeams You can make teams for every Pet Tamer out there and then some. I myself have 118 Teams set up. Not sure if there is a limit.
PetJournalEnhanced Does a better job at filtering you pets and better job at showing pet rarity and what not.
PetTracker Well to track all those pets you want to find out in the world of Azeroth.
Rarity Keeps track of the pets (also toys and mounts) that you still need from dungeons, raids and world bosses.
Thank you very much for the list! There are some in that I didn't know but that make perfect sense to have (especially the daily tracker ^^).
May I ask why you prefer PetBattleTeams over Rematch? No judging, just curiousity :-)
I have yet to try Rematch. I've heard about it and saw the post above mention it and have looked at it on the site. Just haven't tried yet. Looks like there is a lot to it and not sure if it'll work with all my other add-on's. I'm thinking of trying it this weekend.
I've started from Rematch and I absolutely love it. I use it with Derangement's Pet Battle Cooldowns (to track CDs on enemy team) and Niggles: Pet Teams. I love the way I can save teams, place markers for leveling slots, add leveling slot requirements, create a leveling queue. This setup has proven very useful.
I'm going to try one more thing, which is Rarity - I keep missing some instance and world drop pets, so it might prove very useful.
Just found this site today, love your guides. Any plans on a quick leveling one? know there are plenty of them out there but was just wondering since your guides are easier to follow atleast in my opinion ^_^
Basically just use the guides here that allow you to bring a leveling pet on the team. Depending on what level the leveling pet is, its anywhere from 1 to 7 Pet Tamers a day to level one pet. Also make sure to have your Safari Hat on. Also keep an eye out in the in-game calendar for the Pet Battle bonus even that happens about once a month and a half and runs a week long. Next one is coming up. December 20, 2016 till December 27, 2016. It gives triple the usual EXP.
Hi! Thanks for this very butiful guide.
Can You make in Rematch string add other alternate teams? Its better for search best setup for existing pets.
Like: "Humanoid-Amalia-1", "Humanoid-Amalia-2" and etc.
I'm not sure however what exactly you would like to see. Would you like to have the number of the alternative of the fight here reflected in the Rematch title? Can you explain me to what benefit? I'm open to any suggestions, I just want to understand what it does and what benefit it will have before implementing things :)
Hey very nice blog!! Man .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I'll bookmark your website and take the feeds alsoI am happy to find a lot of useful info here in the post, we need work out more techniques in this regard, thanks for sharing. . . . . .
Personally I think this is an awesome site and I have had only one first time failure with your strats and it was clearly marked that the rng was a huge issue for that battle - still won on the second try. So Thanks for this really awesome site and great strats.
Could you add a Northrend tab. I've been asking around and many people including myself still do the Northrend Pet battle Dailies to level our pets, for they give almost as much EXP as all the rest listed here on this site. I can even provide the Strategies if needed.
Hey Saintgabrial! It's very low on my list of possible things to do, I have to admit. Those tamers are for the most part extremely easy to do. Most level 25 pets will manage just fine and it's not very hard to add a level pet to the mix. There are some exceptions, but some of them are already covered in the Elekk Plushie guide.
So for now, I'll have to pass on it because I think some other features of the page are just more useful to the majority. Hope you don't mind!
Suggestion: On the Legion world quest strategies page, put a note that there is a family familiar achievement attached to those pet battles that have one. That way, the are not inadvertently overlooked.
This add-on's purpose is to make it easier to see at a glance which pet family has not been used for each tamer for the Family Familiar battle pet achievement.
Also it will open the window for this tracker only if the pet battle your doing is a part of the Family Familiar. So it'll remind you and keep track of the families you've done already.
First thing I must say is how awesome this site is and my daughter and I use it regularly. She always tries to do all Pet battles her self with no guides but she has helped me and is putting some of her teams on paper to add to your site here.
Two things I'd like to ask if you could possibly add. One is PVP pets and teams. A guide to help others with the know how of what pets are good to use and what combos.
Second is there a way you could add all the older pet tamers. Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outlands for those that are learning and and just doing achievements and what not. As well as Northrend and the few from cataclysm for they also give really good pet EXP for leveling pets. All of witch can be either 2 petted or soloed. During the Pet bonus week I do the Northrend and cata zones to level my pets. I lost my notebook and some strategies I don't remember fully. If they were on this site then everyone as well as I can look right here. I could suggest the strategies I know and once I remember the others fully I can also suggest those.
Thank you for all the hard work you put into this site and for sharing all this info with us.
Hello Saintgabrial! Thank you for your kind words and for stopping by regularly!
I'd like to answer your questions here if you don't mind. For PvP I'm not a specialist, and I would not feel comfortable adding a guide if I knew it will never be a really good one. I'd need someone else to write such a guide to add here and keep updated. Since no one is doing that right now, there is no PvP section. I am thinking about a collection of links to PvP guides from other people though!
Regarding the older battles, most of them are so easy (especially the starting zone ones) that almost any level 25 pet can beat them. There are some exceptions like Major Payne, but for most people those are done one time to unlock the further quest chains, and that's it. It would take some considerable time to add these as categories, and while I do want to do that, it's just not a priority right now. There are other areas in which I want to improve the page first, where I think everyone could benefit from much more.
I hope you're not too disappointed, but I prefer to say the exact reasons than to give you some false expectation.
Hey Mewness!
I'm far from that step myself, making it hard to test :-( And so far I have no idea where to put it up! Will take some time until I have a good idea. Unless you have one perhaps? :-)
Hey! First of all thanks for this site, it really speeds ups things and makes everything easier.
I have one suggestions, what about making a PVP tab where you and other people can suggest and show thier pvp pet teams and show thier strategies
Hey Moikila!
I considered something like this, but right now my focus is purley on the PvE content. Perhaps in the future!
If you want, check out my blog post outlining my roadmap for the coming months: http://www.wow-petguide.com/index.php?m=1&jumpto=73
I want to thank you for putting so much effort into this site, for the longest time since coming back after I abandoned the game in Cataclysm I've been working hard on building my pet battle teams, and I recently had my hard drive die and lost my rematch lua file :'( :'( :'( but thanks to your site I now have a huge array of teams to paste and start rebuilding / tuning. The site and teams posted on it will have saved me weeks of effort to get initial teams built again. Thank you soooooo much, was worth more than I could afford to donate sadly I'm a working stiff ;) Thanks again!!
Hey Gelmanwar! Thank you so much for the kind words :)
Don't worry about the donation, I appreciate it of course, but the main thing is that the info we are putting together and offering here is helping others!
Hallo zusammen :-)
Fatal error: Class 'OAuth2Client' not found in /kunden/426045_85652/webseiten/Petguide/classes/ac_collection.php on line 306

Спасибо
Hallo,
Ganz grosses Kino.
Macht bitte genau so weiter.
Is anyone else having an issue with the site being in a different language ? Its always been in english but now its in spanish, which some translates but not all.
Excellent site i use il Everyday but for 3 days Magpie Don't load the auctions on EU realms is it possible to fix it please ? is there anybody who has the same problem ?
Good morning! Excellent site! Is it possible to get a complete list for rematch? I can't find except for each team and it's a little long to do one by one. Thank you!
Hi!
I am sorry but I cannot respond in Russian. If you read this and are still interested in working together on the new 7.3 fights, please send me a mail :-)
[email protected]

Gnomeregan:
Mechantula: 3.5k
Mechanical Cockroach: 16k
Alarm-O-Dog: 64k
Leper Rat: 70k
Wailing Critters:
Young Venomfang: 10k/17k
Cavern Mocassin: 23k/44k
Everliving Spore: 270k
Edit: Fixed realm name for example source; detailed the pet rewards for the two good dungeons; minor other changes; typos. (edited)

(Well, it might tell the reader that the author is a bit stupid or distracted, as he was apparently incapable of posting the entire post in one go ;-)

See the Powerlevelling Guide https://www.wow-petguide.com/Guide/44/Powerleveling_Guide for more about levelling with wild battles, and the Legion Tamers.

I don't know which battle within Stratholme you're talking about, so I can't check.
My preferences are
Preferred: Staff Pick, Fast, Level
Neutral: TCG, Breed, Shop, Script
Unfavoured: RNG, Long, Tricky, Unobtainable
Now, that might not be the ideal choice for everyone. I can certainly imagine some people Unfavouring Breed, Shop, and TCG, and/or Favouring Script.
But if you try it again with those preferences, you might get a better selection.

If you have a roster of the standard Level 25 pets, you will probably find a suitable strat in there. Not so much for Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms, because any Level 25 Blue will just destroy everything you face.

According to your table I would have to add a Lesser Pet Trait in order to accomplish in two turns.
With only Safari Hat it goes 1 --> 17 and then 17 --> 25. Not, as suggested, 17 --> 24.
As said, I think this is not only a Pet-Battle-Week-thingy, the tables seem to be slightly off in general.
PS: Why does the “edited” in posts appear with uninterpreted formatting tags? Or is it just my browser? (edited)

[The “XP” are the gained experience points according to the log.]
Ashley: 1 --> 19 with 13485 XP; table is correct
Vesharr: 1 --> 17 with 11238 XP; table is correct
Teralune: 17 --> 25 with 12647 XP; table says: 17 --> 24 with 13098 XP
Tarr the Terrible: 17 --> 25 with 12647 XP; table says: 17 --> 24 with 13098 XP
Gargra: 13 --> 23 with 14493 XP; table is correct

What I would do in any case, is a regular and automated backup of the whole WTF folder. Ideally this is a versioned backup, so that you can go back if something got messed up.

(edited)

I just wanted to check if my comment was posted and if there were some responses. I did not want to post a copy of my comment from 5 hours ago. And, a humble guess, I think the majority of the users are not expecting such behavior either.

Thanks for considering.

The cycle of (tamer) strife can be cruel, and I believe something needs to be done with it nevertheless – but sadly, enough of the philosophy, for at the moment the engineering of more basic aspects has to come first!

First and foremost, thanks for your reply and for your opinion.
(Not into the description, not into the comments section, for two different reasons, but I think both are obvious.)
Another possibilty would be to squeeze any meta info into the description before “Turn 1”.

Good question. Me personally, when I use a new strat from somebody else, I always read thru the strat, and in the case I really need to level some pet, I then (likely) exclude strats that are mentioning things like “RNG”, “risk”, etc. But: I’m always happy (when using a new strat) when I see some detailed infos, so that I can estimate what is going to happen. But YMMV.

A lot depends on your roster - what pets you currently have, at what levels, and what breeds. More pets, fully levelled and made Blue, of the right breeds, makes everything easier. Since you haven't linked to a WoW character here, I can't see that, and it's hard to make specific suggestions.
I wrote a forum post here suggesting a development path for a battler. You'll have to decide what stage you're at:
https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17623632232#post-3

If I’m missing something, please enlighten me.

Just a raw draft. Think of it.

In fact, votes for the individual strategies are already on the roadmap :D
There's a few smaller things I want to get done before that.
Will take some time, but we're getting there :-)

In the header/menu, It would be more visible and easily accessible, but I don't think that most of us would find it obtrusive or offensive. Most of us understand that it takes money as well as an incredible amount of time to support a website, especially one as diverse and dynamic as Xu-Fu's Pet Guide. Just my two-coppers' worth.
Thank you for a great site catering to all of us pet-battle lovers. Looking forward to Xu-Fu 2.0!

I've tried to add helpful strats in the comment sections where I can, for the benefit of people without the recommended pets or where I think I've found a simpler or more productive (i.e. lvl pet strats for Fam Fam) way to complete battles. I hope my sometimes lengthy posts aren't too annoying.
Well done, it's a fabulous resource and I hope it continues to flourish.

Happy to have you here!

Truidiata wrote on 2017-04-20 10:36:24
I suspected something like this, since your "about us" page lists this as one of the first 3 pets used. :) Guess its like my Emperor crab. First pet I actively used for quests, so now I try with him first on any new battle.
Hatchling is listed in 2 of the legion wqs, and its the only pet missing on my Legion ready checker (WQ version) so I just got curious.

I see that within individual guides you have "Occurrences" of pets, which I assume is how many times that pet is used in that particular guide. Is there a listing, perhaps, of all pets available on this site that I'm missing somewhere... that maybe will list occurrences on a "global" level?

Some comments:

Anyway, keep up the good work!!

Rematch
Battle Pet Breed ID
Pet Tracker
essential for everyone.

Would be nice to have a Xu-Fu add-on. But why bother when Rematch has it all!

Just a tip: if you use elvUI like me you'll have to turn off battlepet skin in elvUI config (/ec > skins > battlepet) because they don't work together making the buttons overlap.

A section for useful addons is something I want to do, just need to find the time. It will however be pretty much exactly what Gráinne suggested. Those are the most useful and common addons for pet battlers around.

Battle Pet Daily Tamer
To track the Pet Dailies I do. Puts a Green or Blue paw on the map and when I'm done with that tamer the paw goes away til the next day.
BattlePetCount
Best one I found to let me see level, rarity and how many pets I currently have while highlighting them out in the world, during Pet Battles, shops and inventories.
FamilyFamiliarHelper
This add-on's purpose is to make it easier to see at a glance which pet family has not been used for each tamer for the Family Familiar battle pet achievement.
Also it will open the window for this tracker only if the pet battle your doing is a part of the Family Familiar. So it'll remind you and keep track of the families you've done already.
PetBattleTeams
You can make teams for every Pet Tamer out there and then some. I myself have 118 Teams set up. Not sure if there is a limit.
PetJournalEnhanced
Does a better job at filtering you pets and better job at showing pet rarity and what not.
PetTracker
Well to track all those pets you want to find out in the world of Azeroth.
Rarity
Keeps track of the pets (also toys and mounts) that you still need from dungeons, raids and world bosses.

I'm not sure however what exactly you would like to see. Would you like to have the number of the alternative of the fight here reflected in the Rematch title? Can you explain me to what benefit? I'm open to any suggestions, I just want to understand what it does and what benefit it will have before implementing things :)
