Legion World Quests

The Legion is upon us! And with it so are World Quests.

One of the biggest new features of the latest expansion are World Quests - activities that directly pop up in your world map once you reach level 110 and earn Friendly reputation in all zones (which happens automatically if you quest through the zones). For the world quests, all you have to do is travel to each location, fulfill the requirements and reap some nice rewards!
There are plenty of different objectives, and one particular is: Pet Battles!

Every day there are 3 different pet battle quests available, taken completely at random from the overall pool of 37 challenges. That is more than in any previous expansion!

Also, there is an achievement to successfully complete at least 30 of them: Battle on the Broken Isles
Special mention should go to the reward of this achievement, which will increase your pet limit from 1000 to 1500! Should come in handy for all of us collectors :-)

As usual, below table will list all pets required to use the main strategies listed here:

First off, LOVE the site. Your layouts for strategies, and allowing individuals to post strats to help crowdsource - all fantastic.
There's something that seems to be missing.
The Falcosaur questlines have a couple of steps which can be difficult. In particular, the "Team Rumble" quests require some specific strategies. Now, I do often find strats on your site in the comments sections for individual world quests. However, this seems like it would be FANTASTIC if it had have a specific section. Extend the amazingness of your strategy design to those specific quests, please!

We are working on those now :-)
Thanks for the feedback!

In all pets list there is no Magic Family

Aranesh

responded on 02/02/2017

That's because for the primary strategies in this category, not a single Magic pet is used :-)

Lay wrote on 01/10/2017

Does all trainers give same experience to pets? Does some give more or less?

Aranesh

responded on 01/11/2017

The simple answer is, the experience is different from trainer to trainer.
From very little to very much.
There's a rather complex formula behind it. One of the warcraftpets.com users made a very long post about it where you could find detailed answers, sadly I can't find it right now but I'm sure it's in the forum somewhere!

Lay responded on 01/11/2017

Thanks!

Thanks Remte :D
I'm planning to add these details to the fights here so you can see directly on the table how much experience a fight gives, and if it's worth it to bring a level pet :-)

Mistredo wrote on 01/04/2017

It would be awesome if there was a guide how to beat Legion tamers for achievements with same pet family.

Sefer responded on 01/04/2017

there is already on this site

platetits wrote on 12/17/2016

Is it intentional that once your complete the WQ you can't engage the tamers? I mean, how are we supposed to complete the different achievements? Wait weeks and weeks?

Gráinne responded on 12/17/2016

That's what Blizzard intends, yes.

Obviously, for Battle on the Broken isles, once per tamer is all you need.

Family Familiar is the problem. In 7.0.3 it was originally possible to re-engage the tamers after defeating them on an alt that did not have World Quests unlocked. That is, a 110 who didn't have World Quests available could battle them as much as they liked, and defeat them with all families in one session to get credit towards the achievement. I got my FF that way. However, when WQs became account wide, Blizzard made the alts unable to do that anymore, even if the alt had not yet picked up the whistle. Since they deliberately changed it, we have to believe that is their intention.

Getting Family Familiar on one character now is going to be a terribly long wait for each tamer to show up 10 times. Of course, if you have more than one 110, you can cover more than one family per day on the tames that are up.

platetits responded on 12/18/2016

i have 4 110s and a 5th in the works. I guess I have some more use for them than just crafting :S

You don't need friendly reputation any more :) Just 110 level

Remte responded on 11/20/2016

Not if it's your first character, tho. But nice to see anyway :)

Sneaks wrote on 11/01/2016

You've most likely already seen it, but just in case -- there's a new pet battle quest! http://www.wowhead.com/quest=45083/crysas-flyers

Aranesh

responded on 11/04/2016

Yep, I'll add this one to Miscellaneous most likely!

the beast of burden strat is greyed out and unviewable

Anonymous responded on 10/24/2016

It is there. The quest requires you to defeat two trainers, Andurs and Rydyr. They are below that.

Anonymous responded on 11/05/2016

i cant click on it either.

Gráinne responded on 11/05/2016

You can't click on the grey bar "Beasts of Burden", but you CAN click on the individual bars "Andurs" and "Rydyr" below it. That's what you need to do.

Midori wrote on 10/18/2016

I cannot seem to view the Celestial Tournament page as of 10/17/16. Do you know of any good strats to breeze through the tournament post-Howl bomb nerf? I have not found anything solid on this yet, and regrettably I have one more pet to pick up for the achievement, as I was out of town and unable to complete the tournament.

Aranesh

responded on 10/18/2016

There's a couple good ones that are updated on wowhead. If you have a good selection of pets I can also recommend my own Celestial Tournament Planner. Once you have it set-up, using a bookmark will give you direct access to the most suitable strategies for you: http://wow-petguide.com/index.php?m=CelestialTournament

Midori responded on 10/20/2016

Thank you so much for your assistance! I have most of the pets in your guide at max level so I should be good to give it another go! With so much to do in Legion, your guides are incredibly helpful in saving the general populace large amounts of time in theory crafting. I will check out all the resources you have linked me! Many thanks, and Happy Halloween!

Venar wrote on 10/16/2016

Thank you for the guide! I just got the Pocket Pet Portal and you made it easy!

Lay wrote on 10/14/2016

What's best way to level pets in Legion? Most fights seem to not be so good for exp?

Aranesh

responded on 10/14/2016

For me it's still the old Pandaria daily quests :-)

Maui Turtle responded on 12/30/2016

You can also do the pet trainer in Shadow Moon Valley (Draenor) Level 1 to about 12 (17+ on pet battle weekends)

Anonymous wrote on 09/21/2016

It would be very nice if you paste in some import/export-strings for Rematch-Addon :)

Jammer responded on 09/21/2016

Click the "rematch string" button, which is located left side of the team

Druna wrote on 09/10/2016

Maybe add the breeds along with your pets :)

Aranesh

responded on 09/11/2016

I'm creating my guides so you do not need specific breeds. It is only required in very few strategies here (less than 1%). You're pretty much safe to use whichever pet you have of a certain type :-)

Saryas wrote on 09/08/2016

Question: Can we not kill all the tamers outside the world quests? I really want to level the required pets for the Family achievement :-s

Aranesh

responded on 09/11/2016

Hey Saryas!
Sadly that's not an option. The tamers are only around when their world quest is active.

Mausoleum wrote on 09/08/2016

you wont get the family familiar quest done with jsut 3 pets.

pvpscrub wrote on 09/06/2016

I was wondering if "Battle on the Broken Isles" was account wide, ie if battle quest #1 is open on one toon and #2 on another toon will they both count towards credit or do we have to get lucky and get all the quests (eventually) on one toon?

Kityy wrote on 08/25/2016

Trying to get all pets for legion. But i see lost netherpup too hard for me, what could be a good replacement? Also thx for all the good guides.

Aranesh

responded on 09/03/2016

Hey Kityy! I don't think there's a really good replacement for the little floof. Perhaps you can buy one off the AH?

Simple Joe wrote on 08/24/2016

Is your legion fight guides taking into account breed types? or does it not matter at all?

Aranesh

responded on 08/24/2016

For the World Quests breeds do not matter. Perhaps there are a few mistakes, I can't rule it out completely, but for the largest part you can bring any breed :-)

Jakuniku wrote on 08/21/2016

i just resubbed for the first time since cataclysm. I'm prepping for legion now and thought I'd get a pet team together. I ran the readiness check and it looks like I don't have any of the needed pets. Any guesses as to how long it would take to get all the needed pets and level them? Thanks!

Aranesh

responded on 08/21/2016

Depending on how much gold you want to spend, it does take a good while to gather and level all those pets!
If you're just starting with pet battles I would highly recommend looking for a guide online how to build up your pet roster quickly. My page is not yet suitable for this, since I don't have a real "beginners" guide. It's on my list for the future but just not done, yet, sorry :-(

What I would also recommend is - once you have a few pets on level 25 - to check out my Pandaria section (especially the Master Tamers) and get the pets for those few. The daily quests there give immense XP for small pets and are among the best way to level up your other pets!

Jakuniku responded on 08/21/2016

Thanks!! I'll start leveling up a team right away so I can work on the MoP dailies. I guess a follow up question I have is will I be able to do the Legion world quests (suboptimally) with whatever ragtag team I can throw together or are they basically impossible without the right pets?

Aranesh

responded on 08/22/2016

The difficulty of the world quests is very different from quest to quest. Some (few) are really, really hard and you'll need very specific pets for it, but many are simple and you'll be able to complete with pretty much any level 25 pets you throw at them.

Aldo wrote on 08/15/2016

Hey! So I was wondering, which breed of the Sister of Temptation is the best for this? :)

Cheers

Aranesh

responded on 08/16/2016

Hey Aldo!
I'm using a P/B breed, but for my guides it should not make any difference. Up to you what you prefer :-)

Aldo responded on 08/16/2016

Ah, okay! Thanks a lot :)

P.S. Love the website and the work you do <3

Radek wrote on 07/27/2016

Hi Xu ! :)
Forgive what may be an obvious question , but does breed matter for any of these? With the info we have so far, at least?
Thankyou!

Aranesh

responded on 07/28/2016

It's not an obvious one at all! I do want to put general information like this one on a good spot within the page, but haven't figured out a good way so far.
To answer your question: No, breeds should not matter. I always double check, do some calculations or ideally test with different breeds to make sure that you can use all of the relevant pets you have in your collection.
There is a handful of strategies here where a certain breed is required, but in that case there is always a special mention for it on the strategy page :-)

Radek responded on 08/07/2016

Thankyou again :)
I'll make a start on the duplicate cull :p
960 pets.. the increase cap to 1500 will be nice , but kind of probably come too late otherwise!
