Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!

Just did the Lumpy strat on 5-16-21 and workedt

It worked after few tries and my snowman ending the fight with 22HP left. It is a very close fight.

Kisses wrote on 2020-10-27 06:49:06

I gave it my best but it did not really work for me. I did it like 20 times and always Wumpass is healed to almost full, kills my Fel Flame and then Tiny Snowman is not able to do 50% of Wumpass & Baeloth. Especially when he uses the stun too on my snowman.

Works in Slands!

As of SL pre-patch this still works. Looks like rng could really mess this up but I got "lucky" on first try.

ProfBela

wrote on 2020-08-09 13:41:52

worked perfect 1st try. Searing Scorchling died earlier than expected but still completed.

Worked on first try, even though Scorchling died earlier than described. (Before the Conflagrate against Wumpas.)
Thanks!

Laura wrote on 2017-03-16 01:53:34

None of these strats worked for me, but I didn't have searing scorchling. My snowman got wrecked every time. I ended up using Broot (2,2,2), Shard of Cyrukh (1.2.2)., and Core Hound Pup (2,1,1) in that order. I kept up Sunny Day and Photosynthesis, making sure I cast just before Broot was swapped out mid battle with Wumpus. I used iron bark as filler. The shard finished off Wumpus. I had to use healing flame on CD or he'd die too. Then hades with howl, burn, thrash, and thrash again. He died, but Broot was back in the game at full health as I made sure to also pop photosynthesis before swapping him out. I must have burned through 10 pet bandages before getting this one done.

Patsy wrote on 2018-08-08 13:00:24

Thanks for the Core Hound Pup tip! I used the set up as described but replaced the Tiny Snowman (who got munched everytime) by the Core Hound Pup and succeeded first try :)

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-29 13:20:12

I just did this with Lumpy (2 2 2), Fel Flame (2 2 1), and Core Hound Pup (1 1 2). Didn't even have to use the core hound. Start with quake, then rupture and stone rush. Lumpy dies at the same time as Thrugtusk. Then flame breath, scorched earth, conflagration and back to flame breath until Fel Flame dies. If your lucky, this finishes the fight. If not, howl then burrow and use scratch until the end.

This is the only strat that worked for me, you are my hero <3

(1)molten corgi 2/1/1 (2) tiny twister 1/1/2 (3) fell flame 2/1/1.
basically you start with the corgi
and you i)flamethrower ii) superbark flamethrower again till you are low 100-200 HP, then you use your third ability "puppies of the flame" and his first pet dies there, and your ability will still be up probably to shield you one turn from his second pet so you "superbark" for max damage and feint, then your MvP goes in the tiny twister you go ahead and use i)call lighting ii)flyby iii)slicing wind until he is done. His third pet comes in and you will go i)flyby and ii) call of lighting(if call of lighting wasnt up use it as first move and then flyby) and your fell flame will clean up if your tiny twister wont make it with i)immolate ii)conflgrate, i won this in first try and i did it again so to check if RnG was on my side, no crits nothing, good luck !

Anonymous wrote on 2017-06-10 15:20:10

His third pet stuns first move and kills the twister before the twister can do any damage. Does not work.

Lerna wrote on 2017-06-10 21:26:33

This worked first try for me! Tiny Twister did get stunned by second pet after a while, so I passed and then did flyby for the kill. Got a Call Lightning and Flyby on third pet before I was killed, finished up with Fel Flame as suggested. Thanks for start. =)

Very tough. Very rng. Took a lot of goes. But did it using Electrified Razortooth: 1, 2, 2 , Lil' Ragnaros: 1, 2, 1 and Phoenix Hatchling 1,2,2.

With tooth use shield, rip, blood, pass. Dies from wumpass.
With rag use flamethrower, conflag, sulfurus hammer.
Wumpass died from this coz of crit but may need another sulfurus. If wumpass kills rag then its a fail.
Baeloth stuns rag, swop to phoenix and immolate, conflag, burn if u can but Phoenix probably dead.
Rag finishes with conflag because baeloth still burning. Deaded!

Electrified Razortooth (1,2,2) - lil' Ragnaros (1,2,1) - Pandaren water spirit (1,2,2) work very well!

Add Gary Hick's strat to the page, so easy with that grouping and the correct order of execution.

Sabine wrote on 2017-07-05 08:01:38

Kept having problems with the third pet. Used an ashstone core with crystal overload and instability (1,1,2,), that did the trick

Spazmoose wrote on 2017-07-05 11:47:37

Great combo for this using the moves that Gary Hicks recommended. Razortooth cleans up Thrugtusk easily, and dies right away on Wumbas. I did have to use Sulfuras Hammer twice on Wumbas, but it was minor, and even threw out a Flamethrower to help on Baeloth. Water Spirit easily took down Baeloth at the end.

Hollthulhu wrote on 2017-07-05 13:16:07

Best to let his Baeloth stun your Ragnaros before swapping in your Water Spirit, I think.
In my case, my Water Spirit died after Dive, but I improvised with Razortooth (Rip, Blood in Water) to win the fight. With some tweaks, this should be listed as an alternative fight for people who have the store pet!

Chrovan wrote on 2017-01-03 13:13:38

I used these pets:

ELECTRIFIED RAZORTOOTH (1,2,2)
DARK PHOENIX HATCHLING (1,1,2)
FEL FLAME (1,1,1)

Thrugtusk Comes In

TURN 1: Rip
TURN 2: Blood In The Water
TURN 3: Lightning Shield
TURN 4: Rip (Thrugtusk Dies, Wumpas Comes In)
TURN 5: Rip

Electrified Razortooth Dies, Switch To Dark Phoenix Hatchling

TURN 6: Burn
TURN 7: Darkflame
TURN 8: Burn
TURN 9: Burn
TURN 10: Dark Rebirth
TURN 11: Burn
TURN 12: Darkflame
TURN 13: Burn (Wumpas Dies, Baeloth Comes In)
TURN 14 Burn

Dark Phoenix Hatchling Dies, Switch To Fel Flame

TURN 15: Burn
TURN 16: Immolate
TURN 17: Conflagrate
TURN 18: Burn

Amanduhb wrote on 2017-01-03 17:17:17

This fight may be dependent on RNG but it worked for me on the first try. My Electrified Razortooth and Dark Phoenix Hatchling both died before they got off the final moves listed in this strategy. However, my Fel Flame finished it off with about a third of its life still left. My Fel Flame is an H/H breed; I'm not sure if that affects this strategy.

Electrified Razortooth: 1, 2, 2
Lil' Ragnaros: 1, 2, 1
Molten Corgi: 2, 2, 1

same set up with Razor, Lil goes Flame thrower, Conflag, Sulfuras. Then dies. Clean up with third pet. I used Lil' Snowman since I didn't have corgi leveled.

Singing Sunflower (121) instead of Electrified Razortooth. 1. Sunlight, 2. Photosynthesis, 3. Solar Beam, recover, 4. Solar Beam - Thrugtusk dies - recover, 5. Photosynthesis. When sunlight ends you should have over 600 HP and you should survive Whumpus attack (this crit killed me first time) and use 6. Solar Beam . I have Fel Flame (Scorchling is quite expensive and i don't have time to farm molten front). This is very good strategy.

Slim wrote on 2017-01-03 06:26:06

Electrified Razortooth (1,2,1)
Fel Flame (2,2,1)

KateUK wrote on 2017-01-03 17:43:38

I can't get this to work, every time the Waveling dies when Baeloth still has about 30 health. Same if I use the Tiny Snowman as the last pet. I can't get the original strategy to work either, I have to use a Fel Flame instead of the Scorchling but the Fel Flame dies before Wumpas and the Tiny Snowman doesn't finish Baeloth. I don't have the right pets for the alternative strategies.

Kateryn wrote on 2017-01-04 00:01:54

I had a similar experience as 'thankful,' going 0-12 (at least) before trying this strat, and got it on the first try. My Waveling finished with less than 300 health, but the Geyser went off at the perfect time to seal the deal.

Ebrytaim wrote on 2017-01-04 03:23:57

Thank you so much! This was the only strat here that worked for me. I had to make one small change on the Waveling, which was to frost shock again after the Geyser stun went off. Otherwise my waveling attacked 2nd and died on the last turn, but other than that perfect strat! Thanks again!

Anonymous wrote on 2017-01-25 22:04:40

This is the one that got it for me also. My waveling was H/S.
After Gyser, I alternated shock > lance until win - kept me first, which sealed the deal.

This is a very difficult fight. I finally beat it using Electrified Razortooth. Molten Corgi and Lil' Ragnaros.

platetits wrote on 2017-01-25 10:58:52

Fel Flame is a good substitute for Searing Scorchling.

Unfortunately, something must have changed with this pet. This isn't RNG at all. The numbers have consistently been the same for the last 8 attempts. I've had no crits on me, and the 2nd pet dies too early.

platetits wrote on 2017-01-25 11:12:40

* changed with this fight

Molekh wrote on 2017-01-25 10:38:50

It seems something changed about this trainer. I failed the first time, second time I was lucky and it worked.
What I noticed: Wumpas dies at Conflagrate, which it means you won't have Conflagrate up again when needed against Baeloth.
My Searing Scorchling died just after casting Scorched Earth against Baeloth.
So, Tiny Snowman vs Baeloth can be RNG dependant. First time I died, but second time it was not a problem. I probably got critted on the first battle, but I don't remember exactly what happened.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-01-03 19:44:13

Bix wrote on 2016-12-19 03:54:20

Flawless strategy for me, I don't understand the complaints or the skull label on this. I didn't have any special crit or lucky move, just my scorchling (at last these hours of farming in Molten Front helped..) dying a bit early but that wasn't so bad; in the end snowman left with half life. (all siggested pets have only one possible breed). Thanks!

KateUK wrote on 2016-12-29 15:57:15

It's not working for me, I'm using a Fel Flame but the abilities are the same, however Wumpas heals up fast and the Fel Flame dies before Wumpas. The Tiny Snowman can finish off Wumpas without taking any damage but then dies before Baeloth is dead. I must mention here that I don't have either the Searing Scorchling or Lil' Ragnaros.

Phux wrote on 2016-12-19 13:32:47

Finally.. thank god! I didn't have the scorchling so I used Lil' Ragnaros 1,2,1 in its place. Flamethrower, Conflagrate, Sulfuras Smash...wumpus died. Then pass, pass, Flamethrower, conflagrate, and on with normal strat. I need to level more pets.

abba wrote on 2016-12-19 20:49:26

a good alternative to razorfin is stormstruck beaver if its p/p you have to storm shield the second round if its b/b you do it the third. you also need one tail slap so the stun doesnt batter. kills him and takes wumpus first hit every time

SomeEUPlayer wrote on 2016-12-19 10:44:00

Jezabel wrote on 2016-11-26 14:04:55

If you happen to have Blossoming ancient (2-2-2) and Singing sunflower (2-1-2) : begin with Ancient, cast sunlight then photosynthesis, swap to the flower, cast sunlight then photosynthesis, swap to the Ancient, rinse and repeat. Wumpas and Baeloth died before Thrugtusk. If Wumpas manages to survive, kill him with Solarbeam or your third elemental pet.

I used Electrified Razortooth (1-2-2) Blazing Firehawk (1-2-2) and Fel Flame(2-2-1) Followed the same strat for first pet, then Firehawk crushed Wumpus, plus it had speed advantage over him so easily killed him during hibernate with predatory strike.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-11-26 12:45:24

I highly suggest using either Ruby Sapling (or a pet just like it), Scorchling (or any pet with burn and conflagrate), and the Thundertail Flapper.
Use Photosynthesis, Poisoned Branch, and Ironbark in that order for first pet. Keep using Iron Bark to get through Thrugtusk's stampede, and then be sure to reapply photosyn when it runs out. Similar situation when Wumpas gets out. Photo, Poison, and Ironbark until dead. Bring out flame pet (I uses lil Rag for his high power) and kill Wumpas while he tries to sleep with a burn ability and then conflagrate. Your pet will die from stuns and stuff from Baeloth, so finally bring out Thundertail. Lightning Shield, then build your dam. Then hit pass so first hit is by Baeloth. Then tail slap as first hit from Baeloth will again hit the dam and it'll go down, allowing you to kill him.

The Scorchling only has one breed and is very reliable, but an expensive pet. Fel Flame is easy to get, but has many breed variants, which can be problematic indeed.

Electrified Razortooth and Fel Flame as described in the strategy (Fel Flame using the same abilities of the Searing Scorchling), but the Flapper uses Baeloth's multiple attacks against him.
Just go with Lightning Shield, Thunderbolt, Tail Slap until it's dead.

Nutybug wrote on 2016-11-12 15:39:35

Anonymous wrote on 2016-11-12 12:34:42

Substituting a fel flame (mine was h/p) for the sorchling worked like a charm to, and for anyone trying this strat restart if you get stunned by his second pet.

Daedrynn wrote on 2016-10-25 17:11:47

Pretty RNG dependent. My Snowman was not able to kill Baeloth in 4 of 5 tries. I tried to bring back the Scorchling, but then Baeloth kills him before he can do any damage and the fight fails.

The problem seems to happen in Turn 4 against Baeloth. The Scorchling casts Scorched Earth, but there is still one round of cooldown left on Conflagrate, so it can't be used. And Beaeloth kills the Scorchling before it can even get off a Breath.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I just noticed you have this battle marked with the skull for difficulty, so it sounds like some RNG is expected. I would still be interested to hear your thoughts or suggestions.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-11-12 12:33:15

how you mean bring back the scorchling? you supposed to keep it out until it dies

Anonymous wrote on 2016-10-25 21:30:19

I used Pandaren Water Spirit 1-2-1 instead of Tiny Snowman. My Scorchling died before I could cast Conflagrate. I then brought in PWS, used Whirpool, Dive, and Baeloth was dead
