The Tanaan Jungle

The Tanaan Jungle which was added in patch 6.2 brings with it 15 new pet battles: The Tiny Terrors of Tanaan!

These pets are similar to the Beasts of Fable, yet have different mechanics with them.

Instead of being very strong on their own they bring some colleagues from the area around them, just like any other pet battle out in the wild. Those are chosen randomly which makes the fight a bit different every single time.

The legendary pets themselves always face you up first, and they have their very own skillsets. Most notably they all share one ability though: Fel Corruption. Not only does it damage your whole team considerably, but it also buffs the enemy pets in the back line massively. With the three round cooldown it means you need to finish the legendary pet fast or this spell alone will dismantle your team.

On the right you will find a suggested route that you can follow to farm the Terrors. It works both on ground as well as with a flying mount, no matter if you start from the Horde or Alliance camp. The menu on the left follows the same order.

Thanks go to Zoltar for providing the route and to Margosch for adding TomTom waypoints:
/way 75.45, 37.36 Defiled Earth
/way 57.73, 37.34 Direflame
/way 54.07, 29.83 Dark Gazer
/way 48.07, 33.02 Skrillix (Cave)
/way 48.37, 35.47 Netherfist
/way 44.03, 45.72 Vile Blood
/way 47.33, 52.78 Dreadwalker
/way 53.01, 65.21 Corrupted Thundertail
/way 55.90. 80.76 Felfly
/way 43.37, 84.44 Tainted Maulclaw
/way 42.23, 71.79 Mirecroak
/way 31.37, 38.06 Cursed Spirit
/way 26.14, 31.60 Felsworn Sentry
/way 15.74, 44.44 Bleakclaw
/way 25.04, 76.21 Chaos Pup
If you prefer to have this in Macros, check out this amazing macro set created by Prudentius.

Once you beat all of the Terrors of Tanaan, a new achievement will be yours: Tiny Terrors in Tanaan.

But there is more to have. Although there is no quest from a quest hub associated with them, you can simply fight against them where they are and once per day you will get Fel-Touched Pet Supplies as reward for every legendary pet you beat. Apart from the usual convenience items, the satchels can contain a few new pets:

Zangar Spore
Nightmare Bell
Periwinkle Calf
Seaborne Spore
Xu-Fu can scan this section for the most suitable strategies according to your preferences and show the required pets.
Depending on the amount of fights in the section, this can take up to a minute to process.

The Emerald Proto-Whelp has so much usage in this part of town... it is in so much of my teams I went a little overboard with scripting for him (or her?). I wanted to share this with you, maybe you like it to...

--
use(Emerald Bite:525) [enemy.hp<=303]
use(Emerald Bite:525) [enemy.hp<=454 & self.aura(Dragonkin:245).exists]
use(Emerald Bite:525) [self.ability(Emerald Bite:525).strong & enemy.hp<=454]
use(Emerald Bite:525) [self.ability(Emerald Bite:525).strong & enemy.hp<=681 & self.aura(Dragonkin:245).exists]
use(Emerald Presence:597) [self.aura(Emerald Presence:823).duration<=1]
use(Emerald Presence:597) [self.speed.fast & enemy.aura(Silk Cocoon:505).exists]
use(Emerald Presence:597) [self.speed.fast & enemy.aura(Underground:340).exists]
use(Emerald Presence:597) [self.speed.fast & enemy.aura(Flying:341).exists]
use(Emerald Presence:597) [enemy.aura(Dodge:311).exists]
use(Emerald Dream:598) [self.hp<700]
use(Emerald Bite:525)

When used for the backline pets you could summon him to the front with a statement like:
change(Emerald Proto-Whelp:1167) [self(Emerald Proto-Whelp:1167).ability(Emerald Bite:525).strong]

If you have any remarks or improvements, let me know :)

Do TD scripts come with mass exports? I've posted a team for Defiled Earth that can be used at all pet battles in Tanaan except Tainted Maulclaw. Is there a way to copy and paste strategies that work for other battles? (edited)

Unfortunately not, because they are two separate addons.

All 15 Fights, using the above 12 pets. I've never failed a single fight using these.

Use "Import Teams" in ReMatch and copy this string. hosted on Pastebin because of character limitations here.

An effect like this happens when a strat suggests 2 of the same pet and you have only 1. Currently I can see this too.
Strat #565 is the culprit.

This addon shows all the Tanaan Jungle pets (and other tamers/daily quests in other zones) on your map with little paw icons. The icon disappears when you've completed it for the day and reappears when you're able to battle it again. SO helpful!!

It's great that you added the map and cords, However the cords currently appear to be in the reverse order to the map and the pet listing. Ex. Chaos pup is #15 on the map and last in the pet listing. Defiled Earth is #1 and first on list. Fix the cord list and everything will match up.

CircleA wrote on 2018-03-11 15:05:02

Thought I fixed this.. What I meant to say was:

Ex. Chaos pup is #15 on the map and first in the pet cord listing. Defiled Earth is #1 on the map but last in the pet cord listing.

For anyone who didn't do much in Legion, Chaos pup is inside The Sha'naari Cavern. Entrance is at the Temple of Sha'Naar around 29.71, 71.73. I changed the way point to reflect this:) [Thx to Zebix, comment in WOW Head]

Is there a reason for going from Mirecroak all the way to Cursed Spirit and then going back to Chaos Pup? Chaos Pup is so close to Mirecroak, it makes more sense to me to go Mirecroak -> Chaos Pup -> Bleakclaw -> Felsworn Sentry -> Cursed Spirit.

To be honest, no there is no particular reason. This route was suggested to me quite some time ago and I just stuck with it. Of course you can go do them whichever route you prefer :-)

Prudentius wrote on 2017-07-06 20:25:39

The biggest advantage I see in the route you use is being able to hearth out and not have to return to Tanaan Jungle.

Aranesh

wrote on 2017-07-07 03:22:49

That's one way to see it :D

Prudentius wrote on 2017-07-06 13:34:26

The Dream Whelpling can be used as a Tanaan pet or replacement for the Emerald Proto-Whelp as it has the Emerald Moveset used by EPD in almost all pet fights. Plus is dreamy!

my england is poor
i spanish
I suggest 2 turkeys
Simple rotation and serves all Tannan fights
Enter 1 turkey and sleep
Change turkey 2
hit
Sleepy
Change to turkey 1
hit
Sleepy
repeat

Use google translate =D

Prudentius wrote on 2016-11-19 17:42:59

I would suggest reversing the order of the waypoints as the last entered is always the first waypoint TomTom points to. Alternatively there is a 5 macro set on the Tiny Terrors in Tanaan achievement page on Wowhead. Link

Aranesh

wrote on 2016-11-22 13:22:32

Very good thought. I changed it accordingly and added a link to your comment :) Thank you!

Prudentius wrote on 2016-11-19 20:20:05

A P/P Dream Whelpling has the same moveset and stats as a P/P Emerald Proto-Whelp. I know Wowhead is claiming only a B/B breed exists, but I have a P/P so the data is incomplete.

Gráinne

wrote on 2016-11-21 03:00:08

Wowhead indeed hasn't caught up. It still shows B/B Dream Whelpling, which is just what they always put as a placeholder until they get around to it. There isn't a B/B.

While the Dream Whelpling has the same stats as an EPW, it doesn't have exactly the same moveset, but you can choose Emerald Bite, Emerald Presence and Emerald Dream in the same slots you would find them on an EPW, so it is a suitable replacement for the EPW in Tanaan.

Storm wrote on 2016-08-05 22:18:00

Would you perhaps indicate the breeds for the pets you recommended? I'm about to buy a Zandalari Anklerender, but I'm unsure which breed to buy. Thanks!

Aranesh

wrote on 2016-08-06 04:11:27

Hey!
Wherever a specific breed is required, I make a special note on the strategy page. About 99% of my strategies however do not require specific breeds. I'm aware of some mistakes especially with Direflame and will fix those today.
For the Anklerender, it's really hard to say. Many prefer the P/P breed, while others the P/S. I don't really have a strong opinion on it to be honest.

its time to create new teams when pre patch nefs the howl bombs :(

Aranesh

wrote on 2016-06-30 02:25:59

Yes... it's almost time. I already stopped adding any strategy involving howlbomb and will overhaul all those including one, once the pre-patch draws closer :/

Anonymous wrote on 2016-06-04 21:51:51

You can actually defeat every single Tanaan Terror with the same Pandaren Water Spirit / Chromius / Emerald Proto Whelp (preferably P/P) team.

Typical "howl bomb" strat at the start of each fight. Water Spirit - Geyser - Whirlpool - Switch to Chromius - Howl - Bite (if it will kill the elite pet) - Surge of Power otherwise. You then just camp with your Emerald Proto Whelp (Emerald Dream, Ancient Blessing) until the Fel Corruption buff is off the extra enemy pets. Over 50% of the extra pets are Flying, so Emerald Proto Whelp's Emerald Bite plus Dragonkin racial eats them alive.

There are three of the fights which need slightly different strategies
- Mirecroak - He will cast Frog Kiss on the 3rd and 4th turns (the turns you would be switching to Chromius and casting Howl on). If you get hexed by either of the Frog Kisses, just forfeit and restart.
- Netherfist - He will cast Haymaker on turn 2. If that lands (i.e. he doesn't get stunned) - forfeit the fight, because he will kill your Chromius before getting Howl off.

Other than that, you can just turret the same team for all of those fights - at least until 7.0 and the Howl Bomb nerfs.

A little note to each of the Corgi strats. Avoid these pesky fireflies with a Dazzling Dance. Yes I've met one.

You can swap them aswell to the third pet but when both have that thing… :S

EDIT: Weee, Plushie!

Remte

wrote on 2016-01-23 05:41:13

What happened to the general fight recommendations? TL;DR? :P

Nevertheless, these opponents are outspeeded by Molten Corgi (S < 325):
* Defiled Earth
* Netherfist
* Dreadwalker
* Corrupted Thundertail
* Felsworn Sentry

Currently the Corgi herdings are put among the guides anyway, only Dreadwalker has no one. :)

EDIT: And switch here Mudclaw to Maulclaw. :P

Fixed the typo :-) And some of the general advice here flew out because once you fight against a Tanaan legendary pet, using a strategy here, the rest should become quite apparent, I think.
