  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

RNG heavy, 9 out of 10 times either Mischief or Kneebitter will die early from being hitted 3 times by Slicing winds and you will lose the fight

RNG heavy, but a good strat anyway.

use(#3) [!enemy.aura(1067).exists]
use(#2) [!enemy.aura(918).exists]

Still worked in the SL Pre-Patch for me first try. Used a P/P Kneebiter though

Pass- Dreadmaw forced in
Flame Breath
Deep Burn
Dreadmaw dies, Argi forced in
Stampede
Xu-Fu forced, but Argi still lives!
Moonfire
Xu-Fu dies, Argi back in
Horn Gore --> Win

Worked first time for me, so not sure on how RNG is

Lulai wrote on 2017-11-26 05:09:03

Worked for me with some RNG. Had a Dreadmaw (B/B) which manages to get in the Deep Burn if Gloamwing only hit twice (without crit) on that round. Also, I had to use Agri once more at the end. Was close but worked. Cheers!

Don't have Mischief or Elder Python but a Spiketail Beaver with Tail Slap > Woodchipper did the job for me.

Remte

wrote on 2018-06-06 14:27:19

If most of DoTs would do, I can make a remark. Feel free to reply with more samples as long as they're unique, would like to see non-RNG moves for example so the damage can be written down.

BILLMURRAY#1875

wrote on 2018-06-10 17:01:06

Cinder Pup 2/x/1 brought this strat to a whole new level. Gloamwing was dead before he even cast void gate to bring in xu-fu for the moonfire. Still RNG involved, but I think relying on RNG is unavoidable for a number of pet families on this fight. 5 bandages.

Eekwibble

wrote on 2018-06-17 20:03:39

Yes, Remte, I'm sure there are a lot of DoT pets that could sub. I don't envy you if it's your task to find them all. Hahahahahah...!!!

Drorka wrote on 2018-08-31 13:46:00

I found Mr. Groubs as the second pet work wonders (Acidic goo -> Leap -> Chomp).

SwordBreath#1781

wrote on 2020-01-02 22:22:23

Cinder pup as second pet worked great for me. Got it on the first try. Just put up the volcano, then do basic attacks until it gets swapped. Then the black claw and hunting party will do the rest. I got lucky and got a stun out of it too!

Toenail

wrote on 2019-11-08 20:26:32

if predatory strike crits mischief doesn't live long enough to get that fel emmolate off. happened twice in a row. even without the crits mischief barely survives to get off the emmolate 34 HP). kneebiter twice didn't live long enough to get off a hunting party. (edited)

Slick wrote on 2017-09-15 21:36:18

From ranjeb on Wowhead. All creditl goes to him. It was one shot for me.

Xu Fu 1,2,2 (or any pet actually)
Elder Python 2,1,1 (or any pet with 2 diff long DoT's)
Zandalari Kneebiter 2,2,2 (needs over 300 speed) (or any pet over 300 with hunting party and black claw)

So started with Xu fu
get swapped to python, use 1 poison, use other poison, die
kneebiter comes in and use black claw and then hunting party

Kiolna wrote on 2017-09-16 10:41:03

This. This is the best and should be right up high. Crazy good Strat.

Aderana wrote on 2017-09-16 11:58:01

After multiple trips to the AH, more gold spent than I want to calculate, and many pet charms creating and leveling rares, this is the one that FINALLY worked.

Needed to try twice, as first time my snake died before the second poison, but second time did it, and that's not bad after handfuls of attempts with other strats.

Studioren wrote on 2017-09-17 21:22:34

Upvoted! Mischief is cute but didn't work for me. Elder Python ftw!

Roash wrote on 2017-09-20 18:44:26

Awesome! Worked first time.

Rgrwaters wrote on 2017-10-02 18:39:57

Strat worked great.

If you don't get the second poison off you won't beat him. If the python gets crit, he wont survive to use the second poison.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-10-14 15:14:24

This was perfect. Even with a green lvl 23 python.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-10-17 07:56:04

Worked first try!!

Esploratore wrote on 2017-10-23 22:41:54

This is a great idea, didn't know there were snakes with 2 dots this long, at the decisive moment they hit for 600 combined per round.

Rzzr wrote on 2017-10-26 10:57:58

Put this strategy up on the board! There is a little bit of RNG in the sense that my python died before the second poison but restarted fight and second time was fine.

Infin wrote on 2017-10-27 02:50:05

First try, does not require bought pets, and can be done with lots of breed variation. This should be the FIRST strat.

VD wrote on 2017-10-27 04:00:26

Has to be the best one yet. Tried quite a lot and this one definitely takes the cake! Only RNG is when Python comes in and you have to pray that he doesn't get a crit and/or 3rd hit of his attack. I got mine done on 2nd try.

Morcael

wrote on 2017-11-22 12:37:47

Very good! Worked perfectly the first time! Though I did have to finish off the last 13 points with Xu-Fu.

Ankhti wrote on 2017-11-23 09:28:51

This one worked at first time for me. After hours trying... My elder python was "green" and not blue quality. Definitively the best strat for me. Fight ends with Xu-Fu 81% life.

Celtra

wrote on 2018-05-19 15:45:22

This strat worked on the first try. After about 20 tries and much frustration using the other strats I finally saw this one in the comments. Thank you.

Frosty wrote on 2017-10-08 00:12:36

Used xufu to take first hit
Then when on kovok (1,x,1) - use poison and black claw then die
Kneebiter - hunting party then leap.
Xufu and kneebiter alive.

Restart if kovok dies, it need to use to black claw

Lixalee

wrote on 2017-10-30 23:02:37

Finally, something that worked. Xu-Fu had 75 health left, but a win is a win.

Siegaplays wrote on 2018-03-15 12:09:19

This worked like a charm, first time.

Lamiena

wrote on 2017-12-08 11:01:20

Worked on the third time. The first two times, Mischief died before getting to cast Fel Immolate. Success included RNG being kind enough to let my Kneebiter deal the killing blow!

Troutleap wrote on 2017-09-08 23:30:36

Vengeful Porcupette 212
Xu-Fu 121
Son of Skum 212
1. Pass (Son of Skum swapped in)
2. Lightning Shield
3. Stampede (Get hit THREE times by Slicing Wind)
4. Stampede continues (Xu-Fu swapped in)
5. Moonfire
6. Spirit Claws
7. Pass (Vengeful Porcupette swapped in)
8. Vengeance.
This is reliant on not getting crit and also RNG dependent on Slicing Wind

Hawaha wrote on 2017-09-14 21:08:54

this worked better than the start stated above!

Gamara wrote on 2017-11-07 11:04:59

It took a number of attempts because I didn't have a 25 porcupette, but I finally put Ash Lizard in the first spot with quick attack which goes first, so he was able to get an attack in first, and then two more as the last pet in his second time up. That finished beasts for me.

Kauket wrote on 2017-10-26 16:12:54

I do not have Mischief, but I do have Twilight. Drain Power and then Spore Shrooms. Rest of the strat as written above. Works, but with less than 100 hp left on Xu-Fu.

Ashtora wrote on 2017-10-13 17:51:17

Won by the skin of my teeth first try, Xu-Fu had 75 hp left at the end. But still worked

on 2nd try for me.

Soft wrote on 2017-09-27 15:58:39

Worked first try. Fel Immolate tick killed Gloamwing on turn 7 (did not need to cast Moonfire).

Tsoonami wrote on 2017-09-07 23:51:17

I used a slightly adjusted strategy, pulling in Kovok (1-x-1) in place of Mischief (since some may have not chosen to buy the In-Store pet). Fight went like this:

Xu-Fu, pass. Kovok forced in.
Poison Fang
Black Claw
Pass. Kneebiter forced in.
Exposed Wounds.
Hunting Party.
Pass. Kneebiter dies. Xu-Fu forced in.
(Gloamwing died from the dots here; but Xu-Fu was prepared to drop a Moonfire to end the fight.) :)

Tsoonami wrote on 2017-09-07 23:59:06

Quick edit: Typo: I utilized a Footslasher (P/S), not a Kneebiter for exposed wounds. So the modified strategy actually swaps out 2/3 pets.

Dakini wrote on 2017-09-11 21:19:46

Worked. Need Footslasher for exposed wounds though.

Lamia wrote on 2017-09-23 13:41:43

This is the best strat for beasts here. Thank you!

Loncis wrote on 2017-09-16 00:25:46

This strat does not work and cannot work. Mischief loses over 1/2 his health with the first attack. When he casts Foreboding Curse, even if Gloamwing manages to get only two attacks off, Mischief cannot survive long enough to cast Fel Immolate.

Arghi wrote on 2017-09-15 18:56:08

Every one of these strats is any good, VERY heavily RNG dependent. Tried finding one myself, but this fight is a pain in the rear for beasts!

Yewfire wrote on 2017-09-15 05:57:22

Worked third time. Thanks!

Dalster wrote on 2017-09-08 18:08:12

A strat I used - Warpstalker Runt 211 (voidstalker runt works the same), Feline Familiar 111, Xu-Fu, cub of Xuen 121:

1.Blinkstrike
Xu-Fu forced in
2. Vengeance
3. Moonfire
Feline forced in
4. Onyx Bite
5. Onyx Bite
Warpstalker forced in
6. Blinkstrike
7. Blinkstrike

Chadia wrote on 2017-09-09 10:02:33

Tried 6 times but failed every time....
Really really RNG based since you cannot have any crits on Xu-Fu and/or 3 slicing winds hits on any pet.

Tranmere Fan wrote on 2017-09-15 03:45:00

Worked well second try, first time Xu Fu didnt survive to get Moonfire off, Feline had 46 hp left at the end. This should be an alternate strat, but you may have to restart once or twice

Kyliy wrote on 2017-09-09 18:31:04

This 2nd strategy worked for me the first time! I had tried 4 times with the first one with no success.

Tormentia-Kul Tiras wrote on 2017-09-10 15:50:35

This was my experience too. I used a P/S Kneebiter and got it first try, after having tried 14 times with the preferred strat. I think they should be reversed and this one given priority (although I do realize that Mischief, being a purchased pet, might preclude that.

xykosa wrote on 2017-09-07 05:56:18

I used Twilight (211) instead of Mischief. Follow the above strat with Turn 2: Spore Shrooms and Turn 3:Twilight Fire.

Morathius wrote on 2017-09-06 17:10:57

Worked perfectly on the first try, didn't had issue with the RNG but still, this fight is about the RNG of slicing wind. Good Strats
